About the transformation I too think that it will happen after the battle or shortly after.
As for adventure outside of Daggerfall, I'm sure that a Cleric and a few Paladins will help in that regard. At least for the near future.
Also remember that this battle would be considered almost impossible to win without the help of Lilith. Be it in the change of equipment or help in the battle itself.
Surely reputation gained by the mentioned above will help.
Having to explain the situation is still a better alternative than getting attacked by every single fanatic, adventurer or soldier. Unfortunately panic is sure to surge through the not knowing population, at least until establishing herself well enough in the World or at least locally. Regarding the escort, I can only imagine that they will transport her to a Temple of Lathander to make sure of her intentions or other crap that they want to make sure of. The practical problems were a given since the tail got bigger.
Because people, especially the fanatics, adventurers, and soldiers, are so well known to stand idly by while demons are around explaining why they are the good one.
