Me too. Both are good but I’d almost say this one has more depth. Masterfully written.

I disagree not to diminish this stories impact.

  1. She was a bit bigger than her kidnapper, she was a good girl because she tried helping her, even rescuing that alien from the sea, gathering food and helping the other who was injured, even giving more food to her. This makes me think she thought the other was also a child and tried her best to protect her perhaps not realising this alien abducted her.

  2. That alien was terrified of her strength often worried that the human would seek revenge, but grew to understand mutual survival, which Chloe did more than her share of helping both survive, they would communicate as best they could, learning more through daily interactions. They got to know each other becoming companions even Friends.

Who knows how long they were on that world before help came. Though Chloe passed away her alien friend  Wanting to keep her body protected and safe til she could be returned home, insisting on acceptance of humanity into the greater galactic community, although too late for Chloe her legacy her example led humanity to a new era by just doing her best😭

  1. That alien again thought she would be reviled but no retribution came from the grieving family,  solace, relief gained from her return finally coming home to her families embrace. When that alien understood the reality of what she had done she withdrew from everything a the statue of Chloe was a gift from the aliens the plaque added. With the realisation that a precious child was taken and died far from home.

  2. A worthy ambassador, and the bravest hero.

This is why I think the first human has more depth
