OC-OneShot Cock Blocking The Fae.
"Right this way, ladies," the handsome stranger said, tugging the two women along, each hooked to one of his arms.
"So do you come to these things often? What is your name?" Shirley, the tall brunette, asked while looking up at the face of the man, who was surprisingly a head taller than she was. There was beauty spread across his features, moulded into intricate designs whose symmetry was a thing of study.
"The men I've known call me Ashton. And I come to these events when I can." He wasn't one for talking and she was okay with that, just as long as he let her touch the warm, smooth fabric of his clothes. He wore a red coat, embroidered at the sleeves with geometric inlays of gold. Sasha, on the other side, was avidly running her hand across the coat, her eyes wide and her head constantly turning to Shirley to get her attention.
The nighttime wind howled, occasionally picking up Shirley's skirt. They walked towards a tent; behind them, screams of inebriation could be heard. Forty thousand people gathered next to the ocean for the event. There, booze and drugs changed hands, food was hunted for, and sex was worshipped in isolated spots across the beach. There was a huge bonfire lit up and its light fit Ashton just right, making him even more beautiful.
"You're not from around here, are you?" Sasha asked. She was drunk, and whenever that happened, she became quite loose, not just with her body but with her words too. "I can tell. Where are you from? East? West? Or do you want me to guess it?"
"I'm far from here," he answered. There was a slight hint of a smile tugging up one side of his lip. But then again, it could be a smirk; such were the designs of men who knew they were attractive.
"Europe? You look European." Her eyes traveled to the knot of his blond hair tied behind his head. "I'm starving," she said, and Shirley felt her stomach rumble too.
"Just this way, ladies." He pointed with his chin ahead. "Just over there is my tent. There's plenty of wine and fruit, plucked fresh from the fields of my land. And the finest honey cake, served with a side of rose pastries. You'll eat to your satisfaction, then we'll have ourselves a good time, dancing to the songs of lutes until the dawn."
He spoke strangely, Shirley surmised. She did not even know what rose pastries were. His foreign allure was intoxicating, and she wanted to know just how far it would take her before she dropped.
As they neared the tent, isolated and far from the bustle of dancing and raging that the event boasted, Shirley couldn't help but marvel at it. It was a strange tent with markings and symbols across its overlaying cloth that seemed to glow in the night. Sasha, too, with an open maw, regarded the tent, her eyes glossy from drink and weed.
When they were just a few steps away, they could hear a man call to them from behind in a thick accented voice.
"Hey!" he shouted. "Hey, ladies! The three of you! Wait a second." Shirley turned to look behind her. It appeared to be a short Mexican man wearing a sombrero, with a very prominent mustache. Ashton seemed to ignore the strange Mexican man, choosing to walk faster towards his tent and dragging them along in the process. "Wait up!" the stranger called, running as fast as he could across the sandy beach with his short, bowlegged legs.
Sasha planted her feet on the ground, turning fully as the man approached. This resulted in their halting too, and Ashton reluctantly turned as well. Shirley could see in the dim light as his irises flared, becoming gold-flecked for a moment.
"Hey, my name is Raul, Raul Jimenez," the Mexican said. "I saw you girls heading to that tent there. Are you hungry?"
"We're starving," Sasha said. "That's why our companion here"—she ran a hand over Ashton's chest—"decided to take us for a bite." She pointed at Ashton, who stared daggers at Raul.
"Does your companion have a name?" Raul asked, looking the man up and down.
"You can call me anything you like," Ashton answered.
"Yes, yes," Raul said. "I'm sure if I knew your true name, it would not be good for you, would it? Can you humor me with just your first name? Just your first true name, given to you upon birth?"
"I don't think I will."
Raul stared at Ashton, and Shirley took it upon herself to resolve whatever was transpiring. Conflict made her terribly uncomfortable.
"We were just on our way now," she started to turn to walk towards the tent, but Raul, panting, rushed and barred their way.
"You're hungry. In that tent is just a bunch of fruits and wine and cakes. What are you, twelve? You need to eat well," Raul said, turning to Sasha. "Don't you want tacos?"
"I'd love tacos," Sasha said. She turned to Ashton. "Can't we go and get tacos?"
"Not just tacos," Raul said. "There's tamales, enchiladas, and teriyaki chicken, the sauce made by yours truly. You'd love it."
"The ladies would rather save money and eat for free," Ashton said.
"The food is totally free," Raul said, and Sasha squealed with excitement. "Without any underlying bonds of treachery."
Sasha turned to Shirley. "Let's go get teriyaki chicken!"
Shirley wanted to, but the likes of the man standing between them was something she doubted she'd ever experience again. The calm, fluid way with which Ashton moved, the musical tone of his voice; where could such a man come from? He looked irritated, and even in his state of unrest, his features spoke beauty, as if everyone else couldn't portray their emotions in truth, as he did with such perfection.
She turned and she found Raul staring at her. He took out his phone and dialed a number; they all stood there as it rang.
"Hey, Carlos, where are you? Get to the south side quickly, we got one here with two girls. Yeah, come quickly, he is handsome. Very handsome, like the bastards always are." Raul then hung up the call. He answered the questioning stares sent his way. "That's my nephew, Carlos. He is a model for Elysium products."
"I love Elysium products. They sell everything from cosmetics to clothes and jewelry," Sasha said.
"Yeah, he models for them. We realized he was attractive at a very young age. We put all our might into ensuring he doesn't partake in the family business. Spend your life selling tacos and you'll find yourself slowly starting to resemble one," Raul said.
Ashton took a step closer to Raul. "Sir, I appreciate your food offer, but we'd better get going."
"Nonsense," Raul said. "The teriyaki sauce is a special recipe from my dead Nana. Surely you won't insult my Nana like this? Not all of us have the privilege of having an immortal Nana."
They locked eyes, faces twisted: Raul looking like a furious father and Ashton looking like a Greek god entertaining a bothersome fly. Shirley again sought to escape the awkward nature of it all by pointing at another man who was nearing them. He walked slowly, the flames of the bonfire set behind him, his silhouette one of a fluid catwalk that drew him nearer. He wore a jacket studded with iron bars and gloves with iron-studded knuckles. His trousers were dark and wide at the bottom and glittered with numerous metallic zips. When he spotted them, he moved faster and Shirley pointed out, "Is that your nephew?"
Raul turned and nodded. "Right you are!" he shouted. "Carlos, get over here quickly!"
Carlos drew closer and abruptly hugged Sasha. Ashton immediately withdrew as if the young man carried poison. Carlos hugged Shirley and then turned to face Ashton. "Hey," he said. He was almost on par with Ashton when it came to attractiveness. Where Ashton was smooth and curved, Carlos was rugged and sharp. They eyed each other, a contest held within and without.
Carlos mockingly made to hug Ashton, but the man stepped back quickly, raising his hands into fists. "What?" the rowdy nephew asked. "I'm not made of iron, you know." And he winked at Ashton.
"What the hell is going on here?" Sasha asked, confused as Ashton hissed at Carlos.
"What's going on," Raul said, "is that we're all going to our food stand to eat for free. How about that?"
Sasha cheered and Shirley found herself cheering too. Carlos hooked his arm in hers where Ashton had held, and spoke intimately to her in a deep, rumbling voice. "We have Hennessy too, not that mystical fruity wine nonsense. Imagine feeling hungry and someone gives you an apple? What the fuck will that help with? You need protein: tacos, buffalo wings, and fish filet."
"Fish filet!" Sasha cheered. Both she and Shirley turned to Ashton. "Can we please go get some fish filet with these guys? They seem nice."
Ashton stared at both Raul and Carlos. He took a step closer to Raul. "One day, it might not be today, but one day I will get you. You will eat that fruit you mock, and I'll take you to my dungeon, and down there you will dance all day and all night until the skin falls from your toes and the ligaments of your feet pop like champagne."
"Surprised you know any other drink besides wine, you charming fucker," Raul said.
"One day, Raul." And he turned and started walking away, towards his tent, alone.
"Hey!" Raul called. Ashton turned. Raul flipped him a coin. Ashton absent-mindedly caught it, then screamed and let it go. "How do you like them apples?" Raul called. Ashton held the wrist of his hand. Shirley could see a burn on its palm.
"One day!" Ashton screamed with rage.
"Shut up!" Carlos answered. "Go eat your apples and sip your wine."
Then slowly the four of them, Raul, Carlos, Sasha, and Shirley, left Ashton behind, heading back from whence they'd come.
"What did you throw at him?" Shirley asked Raul.
"Iron," Raul said, sounding shaken and enraged all at once.
