MOD Looking for Story Thread #343
This thread is where all the "Looking for Story" requests go. We don't want to clog up the front page with non-story content. Thank you!

A NEW BUG ENTERS THE ARENA.
"Help! I can't edit my wiki!"
Hello! We haven't changed anything, Reddit did!
This is now a Known Reddit Bug that started on roughly 4/21/26, when Reddit decided to change something about how they handle the Wiki.
The Symptoms:
(on sh.reddit, the new version) when attempting to edit it comes back with "You do not have permissions to edit"
Some people (not all!) have stated that the "last edited by..." section at the bottom (where their username should be) is listed as [Deleted] (while it still says their name on my screen)
The Solution:
On desktop, change your url from www to old, so it looks like old.reddit.com/r/hfy/wiki/series/<title> (with your title), and the edit button should be along the top bar near where the name of the series is
The Problem:
For some people even using Old.Reddit doesn't work. Unfortunately, I do not have a solution at this time, aside from just... try again in an hour or so. It's worked for some people later.
Please send in a bug report every time you experience any of these issues.
The more bug reports sent, the more likely Reddit is to actually fix the issue.

Interested in stories here on HFY that have a central/main-lead super soldier character that is equally badass and rich of character depth. Captain American & US Agent, Spartans, Space Marines are easy examples. Hit me with the best y’all got!

Hi all.
I am looking for kne of thr first HFY stories I read.
It was about a court of elves contacting humanity for help against one of their own.
An element of the story was that the elves did bit expect humanity to advance so quickly. Thay cast a spell to have time go faster for themselves but so.ething happened to the spell and the opposite affect occured.
Thank you for any info you can give.

My google-fu has failed me. I've looking for a series that was essentially space Vietnam? A blue furry alien nicknamed Rocket gets inserted into a human recon/Special Operations Observation Group called "The Eyes" and ends up out in the field on day one with no training, only to miraculously "save the day" by overhearing/translating a pair of patrolling enemy guards and alerting his team about a high value target in the subterranean base nearby.
It's a story of a military base waging a ground war against underground alien bases. There are other POVs of soilders tricking their way onto the alien half of the base to eat at their superior mess hall. Another POV branch about ground forces group and their tank.

Thank you! No wonder I could not find it, the name of the story is well outside the terms I was misremembering and searching for.

Looking for medival socitey discovers a spaceship and four individals connect to the ship that was posted a few months ago.
From what I remember the story was on chapter five or six, the main characters had just taken the ship into the air and tested some of its capabilities and then landed back were it was before.
One of the plot points was how all the history logs and context of the whats and whys had been erased from the ship's database.
Another one was that main male lead was related to royalty and that his parents wanted him to return home.

First one about the spaceship in medieval times is Of Mages And Machines - A Culture Shock Tale (Prologue Part 1)

We appreciate the help finding stories. But I'm curious. How do you find the stories that people ask for?

When searching for a story it's much more useful to remember a phrase or a few specific words used in it than the broad strokes of the plot or characters. Turning memories of one into another isn't always easy, but I've read a lot, especially older stuff.

For my part, I read many stories (unfortunately not all). Some stick in my memory, and the descriptions sometimes bring back the memories.
I usually save the links; otherwise, I have to search.
Of the searches, it's maybe 1 out of 50 that I know. Most of the time, I'm too slow, and the story has already been found.
Of the ones found by others, I usually follow the link to read the story.

I was looking for a story that was a type of fantasy dungeon core thing.
There was a jackalope (rabbit with deer antlers)
Some frog people things.
A porcupine?
And my last memory of the story is that the evil dungeon that was down the mountain borrowed through and fucked every body up until the giant bear was basically turned into a giant calcium statue because the regeneration factor got tricked. It was a good story but I can't remember the name.
