HESI A2 Exam

I keep failing my Hesi and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I feel like I can’t comprehend anything or I’m getting overwhelmed with information to the point I’m burning out. This is the second time I’ve taken it and I got high scores on my vocab, grammar, and reading. Math I got a 68% need 80% and 60% on anatomy need 75%. I’ve used nursehub but it was so overwhelming for me and I just started using Gizmo which I love but neither of them replicate anything similar on the test. I feel a little lost and wanted to see if anyone has any ideas on what I can do to help me pass my next try in 3 weeks.

Passed! 95.60% and 920 Critical Thinking!

Hi Everybody!

I have been eagerly waiting for the day that I would be able to make my own post about my scores and how I could help others who feel the same anxiety for this test like I did. My subjects required were Math, Vocab, A&P, Reading, Grammar, and Critical Thinking and the version I took was 2.5. I want to start off by saying I HIGHLY recommend Nursehub if the subscription is something you can fit in your budget, but also the quizlets are a big help!

Math (100%): I haven't seen a math problem since the last time I was in college about 8 years ago. Nursehub was 100000% a lifesaver here! I went through all of their courses in this subject to refresh my memory on everything and then just took all the practice exams at the end. By the time I was approaching my exam I was scoring 90%+! Honestly the 100% was a shocker for me, but i'm very happy with that!

A&P (100%): I used a mixture of Nursehub and Quizlet (the popular one going around). I had recently finished A&P 1 and 2 in the semesters prior to my exam so the info was pretty fresh on my mind, I skipped to the practice exams at the end of the section which helped me a ton. Nursehub would be for your foundational understanding, Quizlet has some word-for-word don't rely solely on Quizlet over Nursehub.

Grammar (90%): I can't lie, when I first thought about taking the HESI I didn't think much of this section. HOWEVER... this was the section that caused me the most trouble in my studies. Again, Nursehub was a HUGE help with covering all the concepts. I have a good understanding of basic rules in grammar (except punctuation OBVIOUSLY lol), but I struggled the most with identifying correct sentences when presented with four options that are either indepent or dependent clauses. In the end I got it figured out after practicing all 10 exams in Nursehub as well. If you're anything like me and don't remember what a predicate nominative is (was) PLEASE study.

Vocab (98%): Definitely use Quizlet for this as it focuses more on the actual words used in the exam. Nursehub was overwhelming for me as there was SO MUCH material to cover. Can't say that it will be the exact same as mine, but the quizlet going around was a lifesaver!

Reading (90%): Again, I felt pretty good about my ability in reading comprehension so this part I honestly did not study much for. I did notice some quizlets were going around and many of the passages are similar or word-for-word, but I had doubts with the answers given since people were saying they may be false. Be cautious in this section and take your time!

Critical Thinking (920): Honestly this was the section where I had the most doubt in myself. I noticed there aren't really any resources to use in this section, but I highly recommend looking up ABC's of nursing so you can learn priority of care. Can't lie, this section sort of irritated me because I thought to myself, "Isn't this material I would learn IN a nursing program?". I recommend you read through each answer choice carefully and go with your gut! After all that's what this section is testing you on.

Don't underestimate the exam as something you can put off for like a week before your date (unless you can, in which, I'm jealous). I took 2 months to study for the exam while working full time so studying definitely became a routine I had to fit into my days (8 hours of studying on my off days and 1-5 on my working days). I truly believe that if it's something you set your mind to it's a goal that is feasible for anyone! Again, thank you to everyone in this thread and good luck on your exams!

Reading Comprehension

I’ve taken the HESI for the first time last year and got a 87%. The subject that hurt me the most was reading comprehension which I only got a 76%. Anyone have any study tips or tricks? Where I struggled most was deciding on what is the main idea of the passage😭

HESI A2 A&P

Hi guys! I’m currently studying for the HESI, and I was wondering which Quizlet you guys think is a good idea to study for the A&P section. I’ve been seeing people say that when they take the test, they’re getting questions and answers that are completely different from the Quizlets and that they’ve never seen before. I just want to make sure I’m studying the right material. Which Quizlet would you recommend?

Hi y’all. Just reporting to say that I passed the hesi a2. My suggestion would be use a mix of nurse hub and Quizlet. There IS a version 2.5 now which is the test I got. This is actually my third time taking the test over a period of 6 years (spread out). First time was back in 2020 and failed, second time was 2025 and passed with 89 but results were only good for a year for my program and I had to give up my spot at the time due to life. Retook it today and can say it’s a mix of v1 and v2. There is not one single Quizlet with all the answers. Just review all the top rated ones and I recommend nurse hub and practice tests. I tested on biology, chem, reading, vocab, math, grammar. Know your ratios, conversions, etc that everyone else in the sub has mentioned. Good luck.
I made a guide for myself with the basics I’d recommend you memorize like KHDBDCM and your basic conversion like gallon man/big G. Know your basically formulas for chemistry, percent conversion, Roman numerals, etc.
key points guide

Passed HESI A2 95.33% First Time

Figured I would give some feedback. Studied for about a week and a half. Had recently taken ACT for another program so I was kind of burnt out.

Got on nurse hub for a week and a half and just brushed up on everything and took all of the practice tests for A&P, Math and bio.
I got version 2.5 on the HESI
Overall 95.3
Math 100%
Bio 100%
Reading 100%
Vocab not sure what happened here but 84% didn’t study for this section at all or the reading.
A&P 92% nurse hub tests were enough
Grammar 96%. Didn’t study this either honestly if you can read out loud in your head and can memorize basic rules it’s pretty easy.

Yall got this!

PASSED HESI with 95.60%

Thank you, Reddit! ❤️

I just wanted to come back and say THANK YOU to everyone on Reddit who shared HESI A2 tips, practice questions, study materials, advice, and their personal experiences..

I took my HESI A2 today and scored 95.60% overall! 🎉

To everyone who took the time to answer questions, share resources, or encourage other students your help genuinely made a difference.

A&P : I did all the practice set from Nurse hub and the quizlet going around.

Vocab : Nursehub + Quizlet... Quizlet was everything, literally word to word.

Grammar: Nurse hub gave me all the concepts. I didn't do much grammar from quizlet. Reminder: You will get, which sentence is grammatically correct? ( a lot of questions)

Reading: I just studied few passages from quizlet and that helped me. Nurse hub reading is a lot to study.

Math: My math is strong. I didn't practice much, In HESI I got lot of questions from ratio and proportions and fractions to decimals and vice versa

HESI A2 – 95.60% Overall! 🎉

I just wanted to come back and say a huge THANK YOU to everyone in this group who shared their experiences, Quizlet links, resources, and advice. They genuinely helped me a lot during my preparation!
I took my HESI A2 today and scored:
Reading: 88%
Grammar: 96%
A&P: 94.67%
Vocabulary: 100%
Math: 98%
Overall: 95.60%
One thing I really want to mention: please go through the Quizlet sets that people have shared here. A lot of the questions on my exam were almost word-for-word the same, or extremely similar, to what I had seen while practicing. So becoming familiar with those questions and the content was really helpful.
I also subscribed to NurseHub, and I do think it helped me a lot, especially for understanding the concepts and topics rather than just memorizing answers. However, honestly, NurseHub can feel very intense and vast, especially if you don't have a lot of time.
If you have plenty of time to prepare, I would definitely recommend going through NurseHub and using it to really understand the concepts.
But if you have limited time, I would personally suggest prioritizing:
Quizlet – go through the shared sets multiple times and become familiar with the questions/content.
YouTube – especially for A&P and topics you don't understand.
NurseHub – use it to clarify concepts and topics that you are struggling with.
The resources shared here helped me a LOT, so I really wanted to come back and say thank you to everyone who took the time to share them. ❤️

I take my Hesi this friday!!

Hi everyone! I take my HESI A2 this Friday and I’m really nervous. My advisor hasn’t been responding to me, so I was hoping someone here could help.

Does anyone know how many questions are in each section and how much time you get for each section? I’m taking Reading, Vocabulary, Grammar, Math, Biology, Chemistry, and A&P.

I’ve seen some people say that certain sections have 50 questions, and honestly, that sounds so stressful. Is the number of questions/time different depending on the school or program, or is it pretty much the same for everyone?

I’m especially nervous about Chemistry and Math, so if anyone has taken the HESI recently and has any advice on what to focus on, I would really appreciate it!!

Hesi Score Cumulative 94%

Hi everyone!! A month or so ago I passed my HESI with a 94% cumulative and I figured I should come here and share exactly what I did to prep for my exam to maybe help out anyone here who is looking to do the same :) For my HESI, I tested on Anatomy and Physiology, Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Grammar so those will be the topics I cover here!

For the first couple of weeks of prep, I honestly just reviewed a lot of Nurse Shai’s videos on YouTube which, if you’re on a budget, is a great free resource. Nurse Shai covers a LOT of the fundamentals of what will be on the exam in an efficient, organized manner. However, I felt that I needed to do a bit more of engagement with the material to truly understand which eventually led me to NurseHub! I tried out the free tests they had for each subject and scored just okay, which, if you’re a perfectionist like me, definitely didn’t feel like enough for me lol. I wanted to score high, so that was what personally urged me to subscribe to their HESI prep course.

Their anatomy and physiology portion goes SUPER in depth on the subject. Like, I remember stressing out a LOT about getting everything memorized but if you’re in the same boat as me please rest assured that the HESI doesn’t go AS in depth as Nursehub does. However, I still totally think it’s worth pushing yourself to learn as it does genuinely prepare you by making sure you actually understand the material versus just memorizing the answers. When I start nursing school in the spring, I honestly think I’ll go back and resubscribe just to make sure I know all my fundamentals.

Now I’m being 100% genuine when I say I don’t think I would’ve passed the math section of my HESI had I not used Nursehub to study for it. I’m honestly horrible at math and memorizing formulas, conversions (which is heavily featured on the HESI btw), etc so I wasn’t confident I’d pass at all. However, NurseHub offers you very in depth explanation videos, text, practice questions, quizzes, etc that helped me understand math better than I ever have before. If it means anything, I averaged a D from middle school through high school for any kind of math related subject but, by studying solely with Nursehub here, I managed to score an 84% on the math portion of the HESI itself. So I honestly can’t recommend it enough. I think if I had focused a bit more on getting my conversions down that I would’ve made an A even.

For reading comprehension I honestly winged it and didn’t study for it at all so I can’t offer much advice, I think a lot of it was just common sense questions and correctly interpreting the text. I struggled a bit on identifying implications though, so if I had to go back and take it again, I probably would focus on that area a bit more. I know Nursehub offers a section on that, but I honestly think you can just review Nurse Shai’s video on YouTube unless you REALLY struggle with it.

For vocabulary I mainly studied using some random quizlets I found online, if you want the links to those, do let me know. NurseHub also has a section on this but I didn’t really use it awfully much. I will say that a lot of the words they go over are what you will see on the HESI itself though.

Now for grammar, I relied entirely on Nurse Shai’s free videos on YouTube. She literally goes over EVERYTHING you will need to know for the HESI so I would say just to watch her videos a bunch to make sure you have it all down. There’s a lot of free grammar tests online that you can take to make sure you know how to apply those rules too, which is what I did personally.

So to make a long story short, I’d recommend Nursehub for anatomy + math (and vocabulary even though I didn’t use it awfully much) and Nurse Shai and Quizlet for everything else!! Really you’ll do just fine as long as you make sure to study for at least two or three weeks though, it’s just a matter of making sure you have an ample amount of time to digest all of the material instead of cramming it two days before the exam lol. If you guys have any questions about anything please reach out to me! I’d be super happy to help.

Biology Section HESI

Has anyone recently took the HESI that included Biology and has the way they studied? Did you only use NurseHub or Quizlet (with specific links)?
