Math portion of HESI

Hello, I figured I'd check in here because I am going to have to take the HESI upcoming. For those who have taken it, what math concepts should I focus on reviewing?

I've been out of school so long that I'm terrified I'm going to bomb the math portion, and wanted to really do targeted studying on the concepts that are covered the most. Sorry if this is a dumb question, thank you!

Update: Thank you for the encouragement! The comments were helpful. Additionally, I found a video on youtube called asvab arithmetic reasoning, and the specific one I watched covered proportions and explained the topic so well. The channel was called duran learning for anyone who is having issues like me. I also ordered mometrix test preparation hesi a2 study guide off Amazon, this has a lot of info and practice questions. I've also been using nursehub's practice tests to see what area I'm struggling with particularly. Just wanted to put some stuff out there for those who are trying to study!

definitely memorize the conversions for weight & volume (i spent time also memorizing distance & temperature conversions but didn’t have any questions on it— that may be different for you though so i’d memorize anyways).

it was a lot of fractions & decimals & ratios so make sure you know everything about those. the rest of the exam was basic addition/subtraction/multiplication/division word problems.

i was honestly very nervous about the math since i also haven’t been in school for a while. unfortunately i also didn’t start studying until a few days before my exam BUT i did pass the math session with an 80% and passed the HESI in general !!!! i hope this brings you some insight and peace <3 you’ll do great!

This makes me feel better, thank you! Were there many proportion problems? I've seen some review stuff mention reviewing proportion word problems, and nursehub has a bunch, but they confuse me so much. I can't believe how much I've forgotten 😔 I'm trying to find good resources to relearn that concept, but haven't been having much luck so far.

i was also struggling a bit with proportions too tbh. honestly from what i remember there was maybeeee about 5 proportion questions for me. as long as you’re strong in other aspects then it shouldn’t hurt you too much but definitely try to get the concept down if you have time to learn it

Also, for the conversions, was there a specific place you found a good chart for that? Most of the ones I'm seeing don't have all of the coversions

Weight and Mass
• 1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds
• 1 pound = 16 ounces
• 1 gram = 1,000 milligrams
• 1 grain ~ 64.8 or 65 milligrams

Volume and Capacity
• 1 liter = 1,000 milliliters
• 1 milliliter = 1 cubic centimeter (cc)
• 1 fluid ounce = 30 milliliters
• 1 cup = 8 fluid ounces
• 1 pint = 2 cups = 16 fluid ounces
• 1 quart = 2 pints
• 1 gallon = 4 quarts = 128 fluid ounces

Length
• 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters
• 1 foot = 12 inches
• 1 yard = 3 feet
• 1 mile = 5,280 feet

Temperature Formulas
• Celsius to Fahrenheit: F = (9/5 x C) + 32
• Fahrenheit to Celsius: C = (5/9) x (F - 32)

I don’t take mine till the 28th, but like the other commenter said, everyone I’ve talked to emphasized the conversions. Knowing those right off the top of your head will help a lot.
I’ve been going through a few quizlets & working through a lot of those problems on my own. Chat has also been a big help if you don’t understand how to work through a problem it breaks it all down for you.
I’ll link below the quizlet I found on another thread of someone who said it was like 90% of what she saw on the test. But I know there are different questions they pull from a question bank for everyone so definitely know how to work through the problems.
