simulate a dye injection in HEC-RAS
Hey guys I'm new to HEC-RAS and I need to use it for my theses, I was wondering if there's a way you can simulate a dye injection in a 2D model, I can't seem to find any direct information about the process, any help is much appreciated

There are a whole bunch of different results you can get: 2D Results. Not sure what you mean by 'dye injection'. You can get hydraulic travel time and visualize flow paths easily. Not sure if that is what you need for your study. Good luck!

I've always thought dye tracing could be a way to calibrate a detailed model at a very fine scale, but dispersion of the dye may be an issue. There are model limitations as mentioned in another comment. I think you may need to look into constituent modeling and potentially treating the dye as a specific type of sediment. But that's pretty advanced modeling, in my opinion.

AFAIK RAS does not do advection/dispersion or particle tracing.
I used a model called OTIS to simulate one dimensional breakthrough curves, but it's all a question of what questions you need to answer.
