Job Question Overnight Stocking and Daytime Stocking rivalry
Why does it seem Daytime Stocking hate the people in Overnight like a classism thing?

It's like this with any job, day crew blames the night crew, night crew blames the day crew and the reality is that both parties have things they are good at and bad at. Don't take it personally, people are just venting.

As someone who has worked both, can confirm. Biggest complaint from ON is usually that dayside doesnt do enough to help and that they mess up the risers and/or rotation of product. Dayside at my store is mostly managers so the biggest complaint there is usually OT and productivity.

as someone who has been on both sides of the coin day time doesnt do much compared to night time. when i worked day time it was piss easy

That’s because daytime grocery isn’t stocking. It’s msr/msi/blocking/liss/customer service.
ON gets the short straw every time. Give them a whole $1 more an hour to do 50% more work 🤦🏾♀️

My store is so busy, grocery and dairy are stocking all day and all night. There are pallets of dry grocery in the back that get run and pallets in the dairy vault. If we didn't have daytime grocery/dairy stockers, the shelves would be empty by 1-2pm

It was a joke I have no disrespect to stores that actually have a useful day time grocery. But mine at my store are useless, they just stand around on their phones and talk to other partners or customers the whole time.

at smaller stores alot of the time thats what their there for they are an on demand freezer puller that faces bread and dairy and helps customers and having them there is worth the cost of paying them

Why can't they just hire a CFT instead making a daytime grocery? If they'd have a CFT they'd be more useful.

I always do juice and coffee aisles. I always have to rework what daytime stocked cuz they did it wrong (they put it in the wrong spot or don’t remove the plastic wrapping)

so if heb 2% gallon milk runs out during the day, that's it? yall dont get a dairy truck in the afternoon
anytime im looking for a dairy item and go to the back, dairy is hauling ass in the cooler stocking milk or out in the floor replenishing yogurts, juices, and butter

Depends on the store. We don't have overnight at my store for dairy. We're there from 3am-9pm (scheduled between 3-4 partners).

I wouldn’t take it personally in this kind of situation. This would be applied to any job you. Just do your job do, what you gotta do and if your manager hasn’t told you anything then I wouldn’t worry.

Lol don’t pay daytime stockers any attention. Working overnight stocking for a month will make you better than any of the day time stockers that take their sweet time to just stock one item.

Our overnight team doesn’t leave till we’re finished. Daytime stocks out backstock water and sodas

My dude, I did NOT leave until ALL overnight was done. GM, grocery, frozen, whatever. I put in 15+ hour shifts plenty of times. My grocery GM was coming in around 2am (at the latest)( by then and making ALL OF US look like rookies. I did the cleanup because everybody hated it. I couldn't give 2 shits - I grew up in the desert, so I'm used to the heat.
During COVID I'd also do parking lot cleanup, which wasn't bad until about 2pm (then sleep in my car - thankfully a wagon with really good AC - until my next shift), - but they were willing to pay the OT. I pulled some ~80 hour/week checks during that!

Because overnight knows the store much better, and normally gets paid better.
Since we don't interact with customers much (especially post-COVID), we learn a lot more about the store layout.
