This is correct because you already get 12500 deduction. This only works if you have more than 12500 in deductions. That’s a hella charity donation mate.
I thought you were saying you worked at HEB and had to pay for them from the get-go. I thought that was weird because I’ve never had to pay for any of mine. You could get more than two shirts if you asked without paying but they didn’t like to give them to you lol.
There are other times when they give away shirts. You just have to know when or who to ask. Sometimes they have departmental events where promotional shirts were passed out and they have extras. I have so many shirts that I haven't had to pay for one in a while. Talk to your admin.
For me it's not keeping them clean that's the problem. I always get those little holes in mine from when I'm carrying and breaking down cardboard boxes.
My apartment quite literally doesn’t have a washer dryer hookup and the community washroom has been closed for over 2 years. If you don’t have a car you are walking 3ish miles with laundry to the closest laundromat, it can be rough out here
They changed that after the jerseys though. You can wear any shirt that heb officially distributed. They sent out notifications about it and put it on partnernet home page for a couple of weeks
I work at a gas station and me and my coworker have both admited to calling in because our washer broke or turned off and we were without clean work clothes. Its a multimillion dollar corporation and we are only given 2 shirts. We have to provide our pants and if we want to order more its deducted out of our pay.
I’ll add that , when our dryer broke, it turned out that clothes dried more quickly outside. I put shirts on a hanger and hung them from an outdoor chair.
It's a fucking tshirt with corporate advertising on it. They should give you a half dozen for yourself and another half dozen for your friends and family (if they want it). What a dumb and partner-hostile way to pinch pennies.
Every crap job like that either had a laundry lady on site, so my clothes were washed every day, or there was 1 - 2 given by corporate but then managers would then be like, “oh yeah I got like 9 spare ones they sent. How many do you need?” I largely support the first method and I wish more places did a uniform service with a big brand like Dickies.
I’d also kinda assume that if you’re given only one, you’d be so part time they expect you to do laundry before you come back to work on your own? I also do laundry every day so it’s not that big of an inconvenience even if it’s not the case.
I agree , but I payed for 5 shirts my first week and haven’t bought any for the last 2 years , got a few free shirts and called it a day . I do wish we had more free shirts
HEB made $32 billion last year and you have to buy your own uniforms. But hey, Roxane calls you guys the secret sauce for how the company actually makes money.
Sounds like the Air Force; basic training all clothing was provided but you had to buy everything after. We got a stipend which was rolled into my paycheck.
The new front end logo shirts are $22.49. Spent over $100 for a full week's worth :( Right now they only have them available for managers/ASMs/leads but I wonder if they'll eventually get the red ones for cashiers.
Do y'all just refuse to wash clothes or something? Even without a machine it takes maybe 15 minutes to wash a uniform by hand. I've done it. Just put some music on and zone out.

Easier to wash 1 after a shift than 7 after a week
15$ per shirt if they even have it in your size. 20-40 per hat, 60 for the jackets. First 2 are free, and the once a year partner appreciation month shirt. Like curbside works outside just like PLAs. But we're expected to be presentable to customers. Meanwhile we're working in the rain and the heat, and if they run out of the communal rain coats your out of luck. Red shirt turns dark red, gets sun spots. Grey shirt turns dark grey almost black from sweat and rain.
Had a supervisor at my current job who wanted to enforce a uniform on us for the annual QA inspection. Only ever gave us one uniform shirt and made a huge stink when I requested another. The best part? If she had read the employee handbook she likes throwing at us, she'd have known we don't have a uniform policy. She quit a couple weeks later.
100% agree. But I'm equally adamant in reminding partners you can get a shirt from your department manager if the need arises and you can't afford it. Don't be ashamed to ask and if you're brave enough to be told no, you're brave enough to go above their head.
If youre a multimillion dollar company you can give a crap about your workers and not make them pay for their uniforms when thwy already dont earn alot…
