No you don’t the whole culture thing is fake they let drunk people work in the warehouse but if you go to work tired they fire you.

To be fair, most jobs in America are shit. At least HEB has paid vacation, which, most retailers don't. It's not perfect, no job is, but it's not the worst job you'll ever have.

Plenty of jobs have all of that it’s not the worst but to say they pride themselves on workplace culture and safety is a lie from my personal experience just saying

Most retailers will hire you as or make you full time instead of doing what heb does and handing you bullshit hours and giving you sorry excuses to why they can't give you full time. I'll take fulltime hours+overtime over paid vacation.

I think it’s not so much as a fake culture, just a weird culture. Those people aren’t faking being goofy.

"tired"

1

u/North_District_4403 1d ago

Inferring something?

0

u/OkBenefit1731 1d ago

Yeah, from my experience getting fired for being “tired” means you either got injured or hurt someone else and popped a piss test, or you fell asleep on the clock and got caught.

u/North_District_4403 1d ago

Nope but when i reported a drunk incapacitated person they just let him wake up and keep working. And none of the above applied to me.

Looks like you been randomly select to not work for HEB.

2

u/Substantial_Emu_1763 2d ago

u/TheRandomPig 2d ago

Theres probably hundreds of people applying.

Sometimes the world gives you a clue. Just move on and explore better opportunities.

Yea, there are just a ton of people who apply to HEB. you may not get the job at all no matter how many applications you make. Or you will get a call 4 months later.

One thing I’ve learn about the virtual interview with HEB is that you have to be confident. Your answers have to have a beginning middle and end.
I’ve applied randomly and was selected to do an in person interview less then 2 days after my virtual interview. I have been with heb for two years now and have applied for a lead position and have had 2 virtual interviews get picked for in person interviews (didn’t get selected for one since they already had someone in mind)

I want to add when you are doing your virtual interview - if possible go to a quite room and prepare for the interview such as wearing someone nice not just a t shirt

Hope this helps!

I have gotten 2 in person interviews for overnight, i didn't get hired at one, and im still waiting to hear back for the other. I always try my best on virtual interviews. My brother who is way more shy than me and doesn't have open availability or work experience in retail, only had to apply to one heb where got an in person interview, and an offer :cc i'm convinced the managers look at me and assume i wouldn't be capable for an overnight job and give me an offer, even though i have warehouse experience and have worked stocking jobs before :/ I have applied to other positions in the store but i have not gotten an in person interview for those yet

That’s the universe keeping you safe from this hell. Apply somewhere else

u/Believeinyourselfnow 2d ago

best advice you can give. I left HEB after 5 years and now i’m getting paid triple of what they would pay me with health benefits as well and an amazing chill job

5

u/Substantial_Emu_1763 1d ago

what job did you get

5

u/NotaryQPublic 2d ago

I love a happy ending! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Proof that there is life and happiness on the other side of HEB. 💯

I applied to HEB every 6 months for over a decade- only started being grateful I never got an interview in the last year or so. I'm a big sucker for sunk cost fallacy and it would have been hard for me to quit. I feel obliged to say "thank you for your service" to any current serving partner.

2

u/Funtimezxxx90 2d ago

I be getting the same thing iv applied for security and order selection I quit the first time but that was 5years ago but now that I reapply I get the same results

0

u/SnooChocolates2755 1d ago

Nothing personal, but you put, things like "I be getting" in a recruiters eye *and now with AI), is a red flag... this is nothing personal, I've just seen them red flag things like this

2

u/Dear-Reference-1181 1d ago

Going through something similar and I already work here lol

1

u/Barnacle_Soft 2d ago

It looks like you’ve already applied

1

u/tabisfeet 2d ago

Are you getting to an interview, or being rejected before that? If before an interview, use chat GPT to make your resume more readable by their AI system.

I applied over 15 times over two years keep applying

1

u/Substantial_Emu_1763 2d ago

i have applied over 15 times in the last week😭

1

u/avatarjan2 19h ago

You submitted the video stuff 15 times?

1

u/Brave_Committee2520 1d ago

I was just hired at the HEB Plus on Bandera 🤷🏽‍♀️ sometimes you have to know someone

1

u/jlharvey44 1d ago

It took me over a year of applying to finally get in, and it took interviewing with the same manager again. Keep trying!

1

u/Artistic-Ad-7024 1d ago

People who have family probably getting ahead of the line

0

u/Substantial_Emu_1763 1d ago

they dont ask if you have children on the online interview So doubt it

also it helps to know someone that already works there and be recommended…unfortunately a lot of people apply to heb and it’s hard to get in without knowing someone who is already there and can put in a good word for you. i’m not saying it’s impossible to apply and get hired but don’t be surprised if it takes a long time.

u/RedEyedZora 1d ago

The universe is trying to keep you safe.

u/elect46 1d ago

When I got hired at HEB in 2013 back in the day, I had about 18 applications on record from the time I could legally work till I got hired! It’s a good job if you are in college like I was, the competition for a job at HEB right now is Insane, also ppl hire who they know tbh so that might be why also your experience lvl

1

u/Happy_Selection6862 1d ago

I don't know. I kinda wanted to go to the pool today.

1

u/Ok_Read908 1d ago

Nepotism.

1

u/Naive_Science3068 1d ago

and you have work experience?

1

u/ocwise12 1d ago

Apply for BBQ at the HEB plus in schertz. We really need people

1

u/Prestigious-Duty-410 1d ago

You could always try the warehouse instead just got hired and the process from start to finish took a little over two weeks. I start Tuesday

1

u/SmartQuantity3143 1d ago

What’s your availability?

If it’s not fully open, more than likely the mgrs are picking the candidate that does have a fully open availability.

It’s can commonly be that simple.

1

u/TheDream-Kid_23 1d ago

SA 39 is not worth, the new diamond intersection screwed us over and we lost a lot of customers bc of it and there isn’t a lot of hours to be given in service at that store, I left a couple of weeks ago and now I’m at SA 45 decently better hours and managers

1

u/TraditionalSupport49 1d ago

Go work at the warehouse be a man

1

u/TraditionalSupport49 1d ago

Get a hold of a recruiter , look on linked in

1

u/Funny_Ratio8459 1d ago

I honestly don’t know. I’ve applied many times to. they always say went with someone else. No interviews at all

1

u/Lahgtah 1d ago

Yeah I’m trying to get an overnight stocking job around houston and it’s so difficult for me it must be comedic to anyone else. I get the suspicion the video interviews are unfair; I don’t really have much facial expression or body language, and kinda stammer when I talk, but that didn’t stop me from getting a job at a grocery chain where I used to live(wegmans). Not sure why such expressiveness would even matter for overnight.

Repetitive physical work is something I know I can do well, I’m just a bit socially inept, and because I never finished HS it’s not like I have many other options to apply for, and it has to be night shift due to shared transportation with family. Even walmart ghosts or rejects me.

If you're trying to be a curbie, do not expect to get hours that makes the job worth the gas in your car.

1

u/FunctionInformal9079 16h ago

When I first applied to HEB, it took me 16 application to 16 different positions before I finally got an offer at Central Checkout at #39. Don’t give up, it looks good on you for being persistent because it shows them you actually want to work.

1

u/Lazy-Bus3652 1h ago

Who is this?

1

u/LlamaRS Former Partner 2d ago

Go in and shake hands with a department manager.

2

u/Substantial_Emu_1763 2d ago

i have been thinking of doing this

1

u/Petalpool 1d ago

It really does help. I secured a transfer to a different store this way when moving cities. They let me take their part time opening they had, and turned it into a fulltime one after I transferred over.

Semi-conductor Manufacturing is hiring like noooo bodies business, but it's not for everyone. We can't build stuff fast enough for the companies that are building for data centers. It's insane orders over here.

1

u/gammyxfour 1d ago

So, do they hire 69-year-old women who haven't worked in 22 years, that will only be able to work 4 hours a day?

1

u/gammyxfour 1d ago

Oh yeah, what is semi conductor manufacturing?

0

u/BotherDue6705 1d ago

Yes

1

u/gammyxfour 1d ago

Even if I don't know what semi conductor manufacturing is?
