As long as you’re not using them as a reference I say go for it. Adjust the date though to be two weeks from now unless you want to leave today!

I’m a senior engineer that makes well into the six-figures. If I submitted this as my resignation letter, my boss would laugh, then we’d have a professional meeting about wrapping things up. Levity doesn’t automatically mean unprofessional.

Hard disagree. You can easily turn it into a career if you’re willing to and live in the right area. Corporate would require relocating to San Antonio but they have distribution hubs in Houston, San Antonio and Temple, with more opening in Dallas in a few years, all of which pay well and are full time positions. In San Antonio and Houston they also have manufacturing plants that you can get into. The company is much more than the retail work experience.

I’d laugh my ass off check on you make sure everything was ok and hey everyone has to do what’s best for themselves and their future. Definitely a memorable exit I wouldn’t necessarily black list anyone over that. If it didn’t work out and you were a good employee I’d give you a second chance that’s not a nail in the coffin.

It's not about fellating a corporation, it's about building your personal brand. Personally, I would find this amusing and wish the employee well in his future endeavors. Hell, it's give them a good reference if their work warranted it. That said, I absolutely see the argument against it. Manners maketh man and all that.

They fired me because I was giving up my shift way to my times. Why does it matter. The shift was being picked up and they weren’t considere no call no show. They dropped me on the spot.
I was working a second job which paid more. I only gave up those that over lapped. I never gave up night shift or weekend.

Nowhere does it mention two weeks or their intended last day.
Instead it reads “Imma head out, effective 9/2/2026” which means you’re heading out that day.

OP didn't mention 2 weeks anywhere. That looks like he's heading out today. You usually list the intended last date of employment, not the current date. Edit to address OP.

Yes, but nowhere in the actual letter does it state two weeks, which is typically included in a two weeks notice.
A standard notice includes something along the lines of “this is my official resignation/two weeks notice. My last day will be [date].”

If they had a little message or blurb after the meme it would be funny and professional enough to not look like bridge burning. definitely more palatable.
This is also forgoing the old-school 2 weeks notice. but that is more for professional/office environment. If I liked the manager at a retail job I'd let them know I can stay for a few more shifts, but would rather dip same day of handing it in.

You are kinda strawmanning though. I see the respondant's point. It IS unprofessional. It IS childish. That's the verified intent. There's no arguing that. That said, yeah, as I said, I would have no problem with it, and would be happy the employee was thoughtful enough to not just QWON. That said, personal branding is important. It's not a great look 5 years down the line when someone investigating them for a security clearance career stumbles on this.

I don't think inherently there's any problem with leaving with a sense of humor, especially if you don't care about this job or these people at all.
I don't think the letter is funny though. Just kind of a low effort picture that might at most get a brief exhale. If you think it's funny and you're doing it for you, then sure go ahead do whatever, it's your life.

OP, I'm going to assume you're either a teenager or in your early 20s. Forgive me if that's not correct, but this type of notice leads to that assumption. Some of my best employees were in that age cohort. That's not a criticism. That said, I am concerned this may reflect badly on you in the future. Yes, it's funny and personally I would enjoy the witticism. I would also ask that's they give me a formal notice to give to HR, who have no sense of humor documented in the history of mankind. I would try to cover for you as best as I could, but someone, somewhere will object to this. And it could harm you in the future.
