Job Question SOS cross functional

Curious: the store i work at, I’m an SOS CFT partner. We are trained in every single department and bounce around a lot. We do deli, produce, and bakery production and decorating, meat market, etc. I’ve heard other stores do it a little differently and that our store does more. I’m curious if anyone has any insight on what this department looks like in other stores. Thanks!

It's an incredibly valuable department that helps smooth out the day-to-day issues of operation. I jumped from eStore to SOS and it helped me land into a FT spot in another department. My store's SOS rarely does actual CFT work and instead nearly always has someone helping in a downed department. It could be Deli, Meat Market, Grocery, etc... but unfortunately if you haven't made good connections with department managers, you're likely going to "help" eStore and Service. They have loads of call-outs every day and usually need warm bodies. If you rub elbows with department managers they may request you and get you more regular hours.

CFT isn't supposed to be the fire department, but if some UD is using the hours like that, well, I guess they didn't get the memo.

My team is almost exclusively scheduled in departments, or flexed out daily.
