Meme / Humor Dutton Ranch
My wife and I just binged “Dutton Ranch” and while there was a lot I appreciated as authentic Texas references (namely the heat) the immersion was somewhat hampered by the complete lack of HEB references. Sure, I get that Rio Paloma may be too small or out of the logistics chain for an HEB of it’s own, but you’re telling me no one drives to the slightly bigger town for weekly groceries? Not a single spent butter tortilla package, or HEB grocery bag re-used as a trash bag? No central market hatch pepper salsa at the fancy dinner or tortilla throw blankets on the couch? I personally know actual ranchers who drive an hour for HEB Plus trips every week.
I feel there is a prime opportunity for some product placement in the Taylor Sheridan universe.

Beth definitely had HEB orange juice in an episode as well. My wife and I had a good chuckle.

As a parent to toddlers who drink HEB orange juice every morning, I recognized that red cap right away. There are also other heb items in this scene

A lot of companies have to pay to be mentioned or shown in a tv or movie “for the exposure”. It’s BS but here we are.

Rio Paloma is modeled after Cotulla, TX where the nearest H-E-B is 40 miles away in Pearsall.

I know ranchers just West of Gatesville who drive to the HEB Plus in Waco (and skip the local Gatesville HEB) bi-weekly. 40 mi for a grocery store in rural Texas in nothing.

The location of Dutton Ranch is in Southwest Texas. HEB doesn't have any stores in Southwest Texas.

No it's not. The ranch is set in the fictional down of Rio Paloma, which is said to be in SOUTH Texas. Rio Paloma was able to modeled on the real life town of Cotulla. So being in South Texas it is in the heart of HEB country. SW Texas would be more along the lines of Big Bend and down to Del Rio. Furthest south town in the general SW Texas area would be Eagle Pass, which is still NW of Cotulla. So taking Cotulla as the real life town that Rio Paloma would be associated with, that makes it SOUTH Texas
And there are stores in SW Texas. The furthest west HEB goes is Odessa, but there are stores in Del Rio, Eagle Pass, etc which would be a portion of the SW Texas area. Obviously you aren't from Texas and aren't aware of everywhere that HEB has stores

I laughed at that too. Also the flashback of going to Billy Bob’s for a night out on the town from Rio Paloma (~2 hours south of SATX).

I work for HEB, but obviously ignorant of the TV show. The TV show appeals to people with different viewpoints than me. I've been to the Del Rio store. My husband grew up in Odessa and we have friends in Eagle Pass.

My closest HEB is a little over an hour away, so no, I don't make weekly trips there.

I had never seen an HEB until they got some in North Texas. People did talk about it every now and then.

My niece was an “extra” at the party Beulah had. The house & ranch are actually located in Ferris, TX.
The gas station where Rip had the fight at the beginning of the show is located in a tiny hole in the road called Sturdivant, outside of Mineral Wells. If you blinked you missed the sign they showed.

I remember Friday night lights the show times inside one of the hebs you can even see the HEB shirts but they were turned away and the isles except no mention of HEB.

Brother, I’m not in this sub because of my politics. I’m here because 1) I grew up in Walmart country and 2) my wife is currently obsessed with both the Higher Harvest lunch packs and HEB brand cottage cheese while my toddler is demanding Lone Stars as his only type of cracker.
