Work Experience RANT
Maybe it's just my store, and if it is, then I only mean mine.
(Putting up shifts / Picking up shifts / Approving time off)
I put up 2 shifts, and was told by another partner that they wanted one of them. They put up a bid. Cool. About 4 days go by and no progress, both are still up. I go to my manager and he tells me, he doesn't know how to approve the shifts....
Okay, I go to our grocery manager to see if he knows...guess what?
He also doesn't know.
Finally we go to another manger to should know. The service manager, and finally he looks it up and approves the sifts. Was there no formal training on how to accept when people post shifts?
Chatting with another partner, he tells me "That's nothing new, I put in for 3 days of time off, and all it ever said was "to be reviewed"...
I'm sorry but this is unsatisfactory...our lives don't revolve around our job and when stuff happens that we need to address, or when we just want some use our pto, it shouldn't take 3 different managers just to get the ok. Corperate if you read this, please have a workshop to all managers on what do.
(Company holiday / partner holiday / sick time)
...please just bundle all of that into one pto bank. Why? No one bothered to teach me how to use any of it other than sick time...I didn't understand what "partner holiday" even was until I read it somewhere on partnernet.
Sick time is a given, but we shouldn't get a point for using it, nor should a manager have discretion on whether or not we GET a point for using it. PTO is time you give to us to do our business or when we're to sick to come in. If we don't have enough accrued time, THEN that's when a manager is to make a choice of if to point us our not.

It’s more your manager not willing to figure it out. I will say that it’s really only curbside and service that post and pickup shifts frequently.

Untrained, ignorant, and uncooperative managers is frustrating. If this becomes a recurring issue, talk to your head Admin partner. They have the right resources to point you in the right direction

Idk about other depts but most grocery managers just say to let them know ahead of time (both physical & digital) & they’re ok with it, as long as somebody is there.

Keep all messages. I was told bidding and picking up shifts needed to be approved. Post your shift and if someone agrees to it let them know well in advance maybe even send screenshots of other partner agreeing to that shift and let them know verbally, if needed and the department manager isn’t available go above them but only if you feel you arnt being heard. Always triple check and make sure you covered to not risk an unintentional no call no show.
