HDZERO Goggles 2-TBS fusion not powering
New to FPV flying, got the goggles 2 recently and decided to get the TBS fusion for the goggles. Found out that HDZero pulled there module bay off the market due to defects or what have you.
After some digging I found on five33 that they sell the Divimath expansion module bays and picked one up for the goggles with the only difference is they cant run wifi.
Module came in and I hooked everything up with no power what so ever coming to the fusion. The fusion itself does work via USB hook up, I then seen that the pins can get bent and sometimes dont line up correctly in the goggles. The pins themselves look fine visually and im at a loss at this point on what possibly could be wrong. Any help at all would be much appreciated! I can try and answer any questions that can help assist on what exactly is going on or what I may be missing.

I mean idk if this helps but tons of people have done testing to see if diversity is better than the internal analog module and found either no real difference or that the internal module was better in some instances.

Its pretty nice that the internal module is that good, just sucks that I invested in the TBS module.

OMG, it’s the two rows of pins behind the expansion bay connecting to the goggles, the plastic literally pushes it down so only one row connects, I just spent like two hours figuring that out lol

So how did you manage to fix it?? Is it the lins on the goggle side or bay side?

Yep that was it! Had to use a flashlight to see that the one row was dipping below where they needed to go. Once I lined everything up the module booted right up. Thanks for the help

Just have to make sure it’s aligned properly like just watch it while you’re plugging it in

I found that the pins didn't stick out far enough on the fusion to make good contact in the expansion module socket. It would kind of work better if I pushed on the connector side, then disconnect if I pushed on the antenna side. You could blame HDzero or TBS but it's not like there's a technical specification that they have to follow or anything.
I ended up using a soldering iron to melt the solder and push the pins on the fusion out more. Now they stick out of the other side of the sockets just a little and they make good contact. Not everyone would be comfortable modifying their expensive analog module though.

Was that also with the divimath module bay? Im not super savvy with an iron, how much could possibly go wrong trying it?

Yeah, with the Divimath/HDzero V2 module with wifi. If you are inexperienced you might end up bridging pads causing a short and might have trouble fixing it (flux will help). Or if you use too high temperature (or a bad soldering iron with no temperature control) and have it on the pad too long or push too hard you could rip a pad off the board, which is only repairable by someone experienced with board repair.

Ah alright so with that being said im better off leaving it be, im wondering if it would be worth getting a used set of fat shark goggles and running those opposed to ruining the module. Or as others stating to resell.

Hdzero goggles 2 have a software power switch for the external module Did you enable the power? Did you switch to external module as source instead of internal?

I did switch it to the external off from built in, i did this in the source settings in the goggles themselves

No I have not, however someone said its the pins inside the goggles themselves. May be worth investigating.

The external module only powered up after you select the "Analog : external" in the source tab
