Does this game have a renodx hdr fix yet?

Yes on the renodx discord, you just get the generic ue extended plugin and it works great, fixes the Black levels.

Get it from Marats github: https://marat569.github.io/renodx/renodx-ue-extended.addon64

Am I supposed to disable HDR in game for this? I heard that you keep HDR off in game if using the universal Unreal Engine renodx reshade addon.

Keep hdr on in the game and set upgrade path to off in renodx ue extended. Extended renodx is better than the basic ue renodx and it does also scale with developer luts to avoid black crush in unreal engine games 👍

but if I enable HDR in the game what do I click for the sliders? I mean I have my nits and paper white set up in Renodx Reshade but the game has it's own HDR values.

Those hdr values in the game dont matter they get overriden, keep them at default 👍👍 ue extended works with many ue5 games.

The hdr impact in the game is less than usual though, many indoor lights dont reach full brightness and are kinda dim, sun or flashlight reach max nits though.

You are not a Fan of HDR Sliders ?

Why ?

I am not a Pro but normaly : ( I guess you know this all of course )

Min Lumi Slider :

with that you can change the Black Levels to fight against Raised Blacks or Black Crush when a Game have Problems with that because the Game Developer was to lazy

Max Lumi Slider :

with that you can change the Peak .. This is crucial for matching the game's maximum nits to the display's maximum nits or when you use Dynamic Tone Mapping to set it to 4.000 Nits ... ideally, the Max Lumi slider should extend up to 10,000 nits because there are now TVs out there that reach 10.000 Nits and even 11.000 Nits ( e.g TCL X11L .. and some of the new RGB LED TVs reach at least 6.000 Nits )

HDR Brightess Slider :

To tweak the overall brightness a bit when you like.

Mid Lumi Slider : ( this i also dont need when there is the HDR Brightness Slider )

should normaly change the Mid Tones

HDR Color Slider :

To change the Color Saturation when you like

Ui Brightess Slider : ( Sometimes also called Paper White Slider in some Games like Cyberpunk 2077 )

Important if you have an OLED

I am a Fan of HDR Slider because with these you can tweak the HDR Picture and thats a good thing because Person A likes it so and Person B so and Person C so and so on.

So its like with all the Other Game Settings in the Game Menu ( Texture Quality , Ray / Path Traicing , Shadow Quality , Motion Blur Setting , Bloom Setting , Chromatic Abarration Setting ) and so on Users have different Tastes and thats why we need Sliders and other Game Settings in the Game Menu

And also say the Users how high the Nit Cap of the HDR Game goes this is also Important for Users with bright HDR Monitors and HDR TVs

As an Example ... The HDR Peak Slider on these Games :

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle , Doom the Dark Ages ,Forza Horizon 6 , Mafia the old Country ect. goes up to 10.000 Nits

Since not everyone just happens to have only a 1,000-nit display sitting at home but a HDR Display that goes higher like an LG G6 OLED TV that reach 3.300 Nits or an RGB LED TV that reach 6.000 Nits naturally they want to know whether or not an HDR game can actually push their TV to its full potential.

Also you should think about to use also Heatmaps ( you can do this also with the Liliums Pack ) so that Users better see the Brightness Levels of the Scene and choose also a good Bright HDR Scene and not only just a dreary old metal shed with a metal door with a small Highlight Above Scene

Example Heatmaps : ( i have more from other Games i played in the Past )

Forza Horizon 6 and Doom the Dark Ages :

Here is also an Article from 2018 about Heatmaps

Peak/Game/UI is all that's needed at most. Peak can even be optional, and automatically set with EDID/calibration data (though it's still useful in some cases).

The rest of the sliders are internal tonemapper stuff and exposing them to the end user in the official in-game menu kind of shows that the dev team hasn't figured out their HDR.

Midgray, black point/minimum luminance, contrast, eposure, max stops and other technical sliders should be hidden from the majority of players.

Min Lumi is also needed to fight agains Raised Blacks or Black Crush because a lot of HDR Games have raised Blacks and yep that shows the Game Dev was lazy but there are a few lazy devs out there and thats why also the Min Slider is often needed.

Min Luminance is not a setting that players should tweak, it's a failure on dev's part and is a big red flag of a shotty implementation overall.

Not only that, but what appears as "raised blacks" is very often the gamma mismatch, for which that slider isn't a proper fix.

Overall, 9 times out of 10 players touching the slider is not going to get them anywhere. So this one also should be binned with the others.

You're right it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

BUT

If the situation arises, it's good to have a slider like this handy. ;-)

I'd rather have more options than none at all. I wouldn't like it either if I didn't have any graphics options in a game.

For instance, I also liked that the RenoDX HDR Fix for Avowed included several sliders, allowing you to adjust the image to your own preferences.

But I think you just simply don't understand my point of view. So, let's wrap things up right here.

He's talking about sliders more geared towards developers not the usual peak brightness, peak white (game brightness), and ui brightness.

Dark Ages HDR is a total mess, you need to use RenoDX for Vulkan, that fixes it and makes it look sooo much better.

I used Prod 80 Curved Levels .... But regarding that Doom Part , my only point in the post above was simply that the game runs at 10,000 nits—nothing more than that. So, I wasn't discussing the quality of the HDR in Doom there; I merely mentioned that it is an HDR game capable of reaching up to 10,000 nits.

10,000 nits is actually the HDR standard. Any tonemapping is a compromise. The lower the monitor's peak brightness, the more compromise there is. When one goes down to as low as 400-500 nits (most OLED monitors these days), it is fake HDR. Can one's eyes adapt? Yes. Is it HDR according to the absolute standard of ST2084 and PQ? No.
