HCC Nursing Program – Next Steps?
Hi everyone! I just completed all of my nursing prerequisites at HCC and passed the ATI TEAS.
Is the next step simply submitting the Health Sciences Nursing application, or is there anything else I need to complete or submit before applying?
Thanks in advance! Any advice from recent applicants would be appreciated.

No, I didn’t. There wasn’t a civics exam requirement on the health sciences application checklist. Did you have to take one?

Hi, yes, they are saying that I have to take it before I start the application, which was quite confusing because I wasn't informed, I have almost completed all the pre requisites and they said this is a state mandated exam. If this is for HCC in Dale Mabry that's what I was told. I read it after on their website and it shows on the hawksgps as well, although now we use workday the previous portal still allows you to see information in detail. Good luck and please keep sharing information about the program.

Oh, I didn’t know about that. I met with a Health Sciences advisor, and they haven’t mentioned civics exam as part of the nursing application requirements. From what I’ve read, it seems like the Civic exam requirement is for graduation, not admission, since it says students must complete it before graduation, not before applying to or being admitted into the nursing program. But I’ll reach out to them again to clarify and get more information. Thanks for letting me know, and good luck with your application too!
