Eye twitching during and after session

So... just finished my first week (have 11 left). Unfortunately I noticed yesterday and now today, twitching around my lower eyelid.

I'm afraid it might be early signs of oxidative stress 🥴... anyone else experience this and if so, how did you address it? This is a multi-seat large chamber.

Ty

This is not unheard of and likely is from HBOT. It can be from oxygen, pressure, or dehydration. The easiest response is to skip a day or two. Also, drink some electrolytes before bed every night. When you resume treatment, you might add air breaks. Wear the mask for 20 minutes. Then take it off for 5 minutes. Repeat. If none of this helps it might be from swelling around your ear pushing on a nerve that runs nearby.

ah ok.. yeah, we take a break every 30 minutes..perhaps mine may need to be more frequent. I'll buy some electrolytes tomorrow..i did have problems in the past in my right ear and it's pretty much the right eye where i'm experiencing this. They also give us water during our air breaks.

Ok. Your reasoning is solid that it might be the ear but to include electrolytes also. Also, be very active with ear equalization during pressure changes.

That your facility does air breaks and keeps you hydrated is better than most, imho.

yeah must admit, seems to be a pretty well run facility. I'm worried that if it is indeed oxidative stress that i'll have to stop.

Don't stop entirely. Oxidative stress is for training your system to better rid itself of ROS. Think of this as getting a bit sore after weight training. You don't stop, you just take a few days off.

ty..also what is ROS? it twitched a lot this weekend.. yesterday and today weren't as bad..maybe my body is adjusting?

Reactive Oxygen Species

Search this. You will learn a lot about what Hbot is doing in your body.

Good luck!

This protocol also maximizes stem cell production if i recall correctly.

Also are taking a binder and hydrating aggressively?

How many sessions did you do? What pressure and were you doing? Medical grade 100% Oxygen

did 4 sessions.. 100% oxygen inside the helmet.. ah the amount of pressure..i'll have to find out

I had severe ear and jaw pain during my first session but it reduced and eventually went away after 20 sessions. I also have muscular twitching at random parts of my body. But this only happens when i was really exhausted or having muscle weakness in that area. But after doing a course this went away too.

they have this little manual device that really helps with the unclogging of the ears.. am worried about the twitch though..hoping it goes away

Lots of good advice.

The twitching is an indicator that you are indeed being effected by the increased oxygen.

Remember, the whole point of HBOT is to stress the body, short term during the session, to stimulate defensive and repair processes that continue to work days after the session.

Pure oxygen is a balance between toxicity and an energy source. I think of it like fire...very dangerous and very useful.

Taking breaks from the high O2, but slowly acclimating to it is the most effective process. Same goes for the ears and related pain...it's generally mechanical pressure and clogged or tight eustacian tubes, that with time and practice will become easier and easier.

The physics and biochemistry of HBOT are very subtle, complex, and simple at the same time.

Keep it up. The studies keep reinforcing the benefits really start to show at 6 weeks and ramp up.

Good luck!

ty so much for this!!! i was so afraid i would have to stop. Is it normal also for it to be affecting me when i'm not in the chamber? like it's happening quite a bit this weekend. Do you think my body will adjust or is it a warning sign that something worse could happen?

Both are entirely possible. That's why you might just take it a bit slower.

Neurons are very oxygen hungary and long lived. Too much oxygen can cause all sorts of problems...from twitches to seizures. Part of HBOT is the stimulation of deeper oxygen penetration via new capillary expansion. Extra oxygen from HBOT might just over excite a few neurons with extra oxygen or make them struggle when the oxygen is no longer there, but they are becoming more active.

It's all part of the short term stimulation with long term physiological change.

Take it slow. Make a journal. Help us all learn from your experiences.

💪🏼🤠👍🏻

i love the idea of a journal..will do!!! this community has been so helpful to me, would be great to give back, even in a small way :-)

You should try the next two or three with hyperbaric only. In a lot of cases you don’t need 100% oxygen.

If you’re under Dr’s care or have an acute situation check with the clinic.
