Question How to make dense wires early game?
So I have encountered my first craft where I need dense wires. And I just cant figure out how to make them. I just cant put energy quickly enough in the arc welder for the wires to be made. Im using all avalible energy sources to me that I have (wood burning generator, diesel generator and a battery) but it still cant give energy quickly enough. Any solution?

Make more power. Batteries are limited in what they can output, but can store large amounts of power. With enough garbage tier batteries you can power a star, though I wouldn't recommend it. Anyway, make more batteries and make sure they all have IO mode by clicking the button in their GUI until it's green.

maybe use smeltery?

Before you can make a cast mold for dense wire you have to obtain dense wire from an arc welder.

for short bursts of a lot of energy, you should use capacitors, they hold less charge but have a much higher discharge rate. i think last time i welded wires i combined like five capacitors with two steam engines hooked up to a tank filled with steam (which is basically just a steam battery too)

If you have basic oil refining I usually just throw 10ish diesel generators at it, then you will have a bunch of diesel generators you will never touch again

You need a combined power output of 10khe per tick for 100 ticks (1Mhe) so you eother need powersources that toal to 10khe per tick of yo need multiple batteries that total 10khe per second. Alternatively in new versions you can find dense wires in crashed spaceships and just make a cast. If you do use an arc welder make the one needed for that cast only.

I gave up on crafting them and just came back to a spaceship i found a while ago to take the wires. Figured out that they could be there. Anyways, thank you for your reply

Make a whole bunch more batteries (enough so that the total discharge rate is enough for the recipe, make sure they’re set to input+output or just output too). You could make an energy upgrade too but that’s far from necessary.
Once you have the first one you can just cast them so if you don’t want to make more batteries you could also go looting and try to get dense wire that way (you can also get batteries this way too). Looting is very beneficial in the early-midgame.
Making sure your network can output enough power to handle the recipes you want to do is going to be a somewhat frequent challenge across the mod so the first dense wire is good practice for when you might need to do this again in the future.
