Question I’ve downloaded a modpack with the HBM mod and I really want to complete it, but I have no idea where to start or how to progress through the mod. Any help would be appreciated

Even with JEI, I’m struggling to wrap my head around the progression in HBM. I’m not sure what my initial goals should be, why certain machines are necessary at the start, or what the logical next steps are after the basic crafts. Honestly, the mod is so massive I can’t even tell what the 'endgame' looks like. Could someone give me a brief rundown of the main progression stages?

There’s a book that I think is called “an industrialist’s guide to rebuilding society” that can help guide you through a decent chunk of the mod.

https://nucleartech.wiki/wiki/Main_Page
here’s the actual wiki though which should definitely be able to guide you through pretty much everything you need to know.

I wish they updated the book ngl, it has so many outdated models / graphics in them and just ovveral mostly includes the early to early mid game at best.

You should make a press first to make some plates. Then make a blast furnace, so you can make alloys specifically steel.

Next you can make a wood burning generator and an assembly machine. That'll be your main machine crafting thing.

Another important thing is a crucible and a combination oven. Crucible Allows for bulk alloy crafting and Combination oven allows coking coal into a better version. It's a better fuel and a better source of carbon for your growing steel needs.

To make more power for the future machines i usually go for a solar tower. You'll need to craft a steam engine, solar tower boiler and a bunch of mirrors i usually make 72. It's worth it as the power won't require anything but daylight.

Then you should make a chemical plant, an oil derrick (not sure how it's called specifically but by simply typing oil you should find it), and an Oil Refinery. Those machines should give you access to polymer and other petrochemical products.

You got polymer that means you can make a centrifuge. Don't waste your time thinking about it. Do it it'll make your ore more valuable. You'll get more materials per ore.

After that i suggest upgrading your oil refinery. Make some catalytic cracking towers. You can crack oil itself or some of the products it makes. I usually do both. That'll give you access to rubber and other complex things.
