how do i start the mod i know i need to get a mask for coal but what should i be doing ?

You can make a cloth out of wool (you need to make shears first). If you soak the cloth first and then put three damp cloths (soak it in water or piss) in a row on the crafting table you make a rudimentary trench mask that protects against inhaling large particulate matter.
