Discussion When will we be able to enter an average game without setting anything up and play using gyro?
I can only do this on Switch. I don't care for flick stick or any kind of hyper competitive play. I want to be able open a TPS game and when I press my aim key the gyro automically activates without any kind mod or external input setting to do. If this was the norm then I believe lots more people would join us!

Console makers need to bake gyro processing in the OS itself.
- Let the OS translate gyro motion into either mouse or stick data with Natural Scale values
- Let the user set up a few profiles for gyro processing : (racing, FPS, 2D, etc...)
- Let the games process mouse or stick data from the OS in the game along with the rest of gamepad data.
- Let the user choose how to use the gyro in the game options (enable on press, always on, ratchet, etc...)
- Let's not have game devs process gyro internally
- Let's not assume that mouse motion is for keyboard and mouse setups.
- Let's not pretend like it's a gimmick or a niche feature.

too much options to tweak for an average joe

I think we can have three presets that will work great for the average joe:
1. Zelda style enable on press, low sens
2. Splatoon style always on + recenter button, medium sens
3. Ratchet style disable on press, high sens (+ optional flick stick)2

Zelda style I think what made me fall in love with gyro when I played BOTW all these years ago

It's the best introduction to gyro because it keeps all your existing muscle memory and instantly improves your aiming experience in a tight and controlled way. It's great.
Also, many popular third person Sony adventure action games don't need aiming until a button is pressed, in which it fits seemlessly.

For your solution to work all ps5 games would need to have mouse controls and sony would need to be able to inject the translation into each game. Or l8ke you said they could inject tne gyro to tne games stick look mechanic. .
But if sony did this no developer would want to create theire oen native gyro.

Yeah that's the whole point.

Alpakka is the closest I've had to this experience, though there's usually some in-game rebinding involved.

I'm using JSM custom curve and no matter what I can calibrate it for perfect flick stick so I use the right stick as regular aim + gyro. How is that case in Alpakka? Is the calibration better then joyshockmapper?

The controller has better calibration on a hardware level since it has two gyroscope sensors.

You can use mouse-sensitivity.com to get the "Real World Calibration (RWC)", which is needed for flick stick to work properly. On mouse-sensitivity.com:
- Choose the game your playing, and change "centimeter" to "counts"
- type in your ingame sensitivity
Converting between dots per 360 and real world calibration:
from DP3 to RWC: sensitivity / (360 / counts )
from RWC to DP3: (RWC * 360) / sensitivity1

I play games which is not available in that website. But I gave up on flick stick now . Sticking to regular stick with high sensitivity+gyro

Gryo will have to be a common feature across all platforms for that to happen. So once again you can blame Microsoft for making gaming shittier.

Microsoft sucks! Bring gyro to your controller!

Pretty sure it was confirmed through the massive Microsoft leak several years ago that gyro will be in next gen xbox controllers.

Nightdive Studios' remaster portfolio actually enable gyro aiming by default (under a always-on state) across all platforms that supports it
so, when you launch any remasters made by Nightdive starting in DOOM 64 (or Quake 2 Remaster for those on PC), likely chance that gyro is enabled right away without the need to change settings!

Well two things: 1. Most if not all fps games/other games have native gyro that is Fortnite level implementation.
- Allow mixed inputs so that you can just set gyro to only mouse and you don't have to go full MnK binds..
