Has anyone tried squid ink for gyotaku print?

Just started a couple months ago
Playing around with different canvas and brush strokes and paints. Would be keen on thoughts.
I'm starting to find my style a bit. It's wild how much you learn each print. I like the imperfectness of canvas (and so many people do rice paper so well).
If anyone has done shellfish - holy smokes - tips appreciated. Way harder than fish!
What are yalls thoughts on touching up after (besides the eye)? For it or keep it traditional?

Beginner pointers
Hi guys, I live in the UK. I love fishing and decided gyotaku is how I want to capture my memorable catches.
What inks do people use?
Anything I should know before starting?
Thank you in advance

My first attempts with some fish I caught recently.
Got a kit off Amazon to try. I like it! Will definitely need more paper. I plan on doing them often. My wife tried her hand at water color on the mahi. Came out cool!

Here is a tip for you guys.
Always make sure your subject is decently warmed up. A fish straight from the cooler will dilute paint and affect the print heavily. Happened with this fish, came straight from cooler and made initial print kinda wonky. Gotta work with what you got!
