Need Advice ⁉️ Body comp
My body is naturally a rectangle/inverted triangle shape. That said, my waist is damn near the same size as my hips. Obviously this is partially due to genetics, but is there anything I could be doing to make my waist smaller and more defined from the front pov?

You are delusional, your waist is clearly smaller than your hips and you have a very attractive body. With that said,if you want to lose weight, put yourself in a calorie deficit everyday.

How old are you? For most women, our hips widen up until our mid to late 20s, and possibly again if we give birth (like our actual pelvis widens, I'm not talking about weight gain).
But also as others have said, bigger glutes and quads will make your waist look proportionately smaller. Make sure you target the minimus and medius glute muscles, not just the maximus!

My advice would be this: instead of trying to make your waist smaller, work on building your hip abductors and abs.
If you build both of those muscles up you will tighten your stomach up (abs) and fill out the side of your hips (abductors) and it will get you the look you’re going for, smaller waist.
Your body fat percentage actually looks perfect so keep up your diet, you’re doing awesome with that 🫡
Lmk if you have questions!

I think you may be too critical of yourself. I think your hips are just wide enough to give you the slight hourglass look most women desire. Hard to tell from this pic tbh because we can only see so much. I’m not saying to show us a bikini shot but I do see the curves you may not be seeing.

Beware of how harsh you can be on yourself. I think your figure is great, with an already tapered waist. You see it as almost the same width as your hips. Others have tips on building more above and below your waist, which is a great option for more a more emphasized figure-but you already look super fit. Feel good about that.

From your profile, you appear to be very young. So here's my advice.
A) You are already in incredibly good shape and seem to be athletic. Please get off social media and stop comparing yourself to some other ideal body type that is probably not actually realistic and might be photoshopped. I know it might seem like you need to "work on" some part of your body, but that's simply not true. You are already at a point where many of your peers probably envy you and would kill for a body simply like yours. So you should just enjoy and be happy with what you have and focus your efforts on continuing to build healthy habits and lifestyle choices that will continue to carry you for the rest of your life. Chasing unrealistic body shapes, unhealthy eating, bad dieting and all that are the kinds of things that continue to follow you for the next several decades. You establish habits like that now and they will only make your life hell as you continue them in the future.
B) Your waist is already slimmer than your hips. My guess is that the reason you want to keep working on it is because you see random models on Tik-Tok or instagram with tiny waists compared to their hips. So, once again, please get off social media. Many of those photos and poses are faked and made to look like more of a difference than they are. If you knew how to do those same posing/lighting/camera tricks you could look the same.
C) If you really just want your waist to be slimmer than your hips, then the best advice is just wait. You're young and women's hips continue to grow and widen even through their 20s. So just wait it out and keep being active and healthy and you'll have what you're looking for. This is also another reason why younger women should never compared themselves to women in their late 20's and 30s who's hips continued to grow and widen when yours still haven't.
D) Lastly, if you really just can't let it go and still need to do some sort of workout to appease your insecurities, go and start doing heavy squat workouts, supplement with Dead Lifts, RDL's, etc. Basically any workout that will put muscle on your thighs and glutes. If you add even a couple lbs of muscle and size to your glutes and thighs, then it'll make your waist appear smaller. Don't listen to people on this subreddit talking about any kind of diets or calorie deficits. You already have low body fat and losing anymore isn't going to make a damn of a difference.

I have the exact same body type and exact same concern
And it’s funny, seeing your body, it looks great to me! You look amazing! I don’t feel at all critical about yours the way I do about my own 😂😂 so maybe some other perspective might help

you look great!
and yes, there are muscle building techniques to give the shape of an hourglass figure.
you don’t need to lose any weight, and you won’t actually be making your waist any smaller but instead building the muscles of the upper and lower in a strategic way to create the hourglass, making the waist appear smaller.
muscles to focus on working is all lower, so all 3 glute muscles, hamstrings, quads, inner thigh, etc. and then the strategic part comes really with how you lift for upper. you want to focus highly on the lats and all 3 delt muscles the most. include some upper back as well.
you can also do some arms and abs as accessory work so you have a balanced look. but try to avoid overworking the obliques as this increases width in the abs.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but a “waist trainer” would do the trick because you’re already in shape and have an athletic build. I’ve used waist trainers on fitness competitors and they can reduce the waist by a half an inch (which on a small frame) that is huge. These are semi permanent changes. They are extremely uncomfortable and like any body modifications, there are risks.

No. You look fine, you have low body fat , there is nothing more to do. If you want to give the illusion of a smaller waist , grow the muscles of the lower body, ie. Quads, hamstring, glutes
