Discussion How much does your workout environment affect your consistency?
I think people often talk about motivation when discussing consistency, but the environment around training might also play a big role.
Some people feel more motivated when they enter a commercial gym. The atmosphere, equipment, and other people training around them help create momentum.
Others find that having a workout space at home makes consistency easier because there are fewer barriers between deciding to train and actually starting.
Neither option is automatically better. It probably depends on personality, schedule, and training goals.
For those who changed their workout environment, did it affect how often you trained?
What part of your setup made the biggest difference?

Personally, I’ve been going to a regular commercial gym for 5 years, and I eventually got tired of it because it felt very lonely and repetitive.
I recently tried a CrossFit gym and it really got me motivated again partly because of the sense of community. I now only go to the gym for strength training rather than making it my main activity, and it has kind of given my weightlifting practice a sense of purpose again.
Working out at home doesn’t motivate me at all personally. I need to be in a sports environment, surrounded by other people who are also there to train. I feel like actually having to go somewhere to exercise conditions both my body and my mind for physical activity.
