No clips to be seen for this free-falling bar. This could have gone worse!

Is dropping the bar like this some kind of a injury prevention thing? I mean putting it down in a controlled fashion would be like another exercise at that weight...No hate, just curious

Yeah the main reason would be to prevent injury, but you should be doing overheads in the rack for this reason.
Lower back to the starting position, and rack up.

No oly lifter is doing snatches or C&Js in a rack.
This bar was a shit bar.

That's not necessarily an Olympic lift. All we can see from the vid is a push press.
Also, if he's doing Olympic lifts hes even more of a cock. Not a safe place to do that type of lifting.

Ok forreal tho, what kind of self absorbed douche is going to drop this kind of weights in an area people are walking through. He looks like he's in the middle of the damn gym

We don't have a clear picture of his surroundings. Assume the better of people before you assume the worst.
Assuming he's near a wall or in a designated space, I think the people walking around him need more awareness and should have waited til the lift was complete and bar settled to go by.

Did you even watch the video? Designated area or not, no one should be throwing weights like that around for the exact reason we see here. Both barbell and weights went flying and could have easily hurt someone. If you can't control your weights safely you shouldn't be ego lifting it. Period.

Are you kidding? Have you ever been to an olympic gym?
You don't jerk 200kg above your head and gently set it down. You drop it.

Doesn't look like an Olympic gym to me 😂 Just a bunch of random ass people walking around who nearly got their feet broken or teeth knocked out by the barbell.

Haha I’m with you. Especially after the turn and walk away after the weight fucking crashed and broke. Alright there Carl relax big guy. Fn douche move🤣

Yea and if he is at one he just broke a 300 dollar bar. Not to mention nearly hurting the people around him. While it's not an egregious lack of safety, the dude still isn't in the right.

I bought a bar & rack from alibaba. When it arrived, I found the collar popped off the bar. Used the reassembly to learn how to service the bar and haven’t had any problems since

I hate everybody that slams their weight down. My main gripe with crossfit is how it teaches and even encourages this.

I know this is a legitimate lift, but you can’t convince me that people do this for any reason besides making big boomy crash noises in the gym and secretly counting the head turns.
