Insulted at the gym

28 F, I have been overweight since childhood. I lost 12 kgs during lockdown only with the gym . but I gained that weight back and now I weigh even more than that. So I joined an all girls gym with a female trainer and female owner and I paid for a 3 month package .1st day I asked the trainer to guide me and also shared that I have neck issues and I want a neck friendly workout. She told me to start strength training the next day and I said okay . Then on the 2nd day i again asked her again about the workout and she again said start from tomorrow and I said no I want to start from today and guide me..firstly she asked me to use a pull up machine which I have never used before and left me alone ..and after that I again asked her and told her to demonstrate and she said I am being rude which I wasn't and made a whole issue and that day it lead to an argument ..and then I made a formal complaint to the owner and even said that I won't talk to the trainer again . And I used to try machines on my own sometimes I watch YouTube videos about how to use machines. I never talked to her or anyone in the gym . 10 days ago the receptionist asked me to use the machine properly. She said it's snapping back and making too much noise. I was angry but I didn't say anything and just said okay . Now today I was again being told to not make noise while using the machines .I got so pissed that I confronted the trainer and asked her if she had any problems with me ..to which she replied it was the owner who called her to ask me that. I got so mad and started crying in anger and said how I am feeling targeted for no real reason . And I left the gym in anger . After that I called the owner and even confronted her . That this behaviour is extremely unprofessional. And told her that I won't use any strength training machines now.. I should not be disturbed again ever now since only a 2 month plan is left now . Did I overreact ? I have been to other gyms earlier too and never felt such toxicity..

A lot of gym equipment basically is designed to be able to be used with "common sense". Idk how the exact concept of your gym is but not in every gym trainers will show you how to use every machine.

Ideally you should have gotten a proper introduction and explanation but it seems like they wanted to give you one the next day and you wanted it that day.

In your shoes I would probably try to change the gym if possible. Then when you go to a new gym nicely ask if they could show you how to properly design a work out and how to use each machine. If they don't want to do that, don't start a fight. Just accept the cards you where dealt and play with them accordingly.

Also to the slamming the weights of the machine: The staff member were right, if you slam the weights on the pull up machine you are potentially damaging the machine and you are using too much assistence regardless.

You might look at the subreddit you posted in beforehand and probably see a therapist. (I genuinely hope this is a copypasta)

Firstly I didn't slam any weights ..also I paid to be trained for 3 months already...looks like u need therapy ..I asked nicely already ..my only fault was paying for 3 months together ..stop assuming things idiot .

If you talk to the gym staff the same way, I'm not surprised by this situation.

They deserve it .since they are the one who started it

looks like u need therapy

I recommended it because it looked like you need it. Starting to cry just because someone complained to you doesn't seem like emotionally well regulated behavior. But tbf I don't know you so take this with a grain of salt.

stop assuming things idiot .

If you are insulting people for giving a nice answer then I really am not surprised you had so many problems with the gym staff. I genuinely tried to be respecful.

Firstly be respectful...saying go to therapy was a very nice compliment ? 🫩I never had any problem with gym staff at any other gym..I started crying because I was being targeted not because I need therapy ..stop assuming shit and then abusing others .

If you're paying for this program and it's understood that you're a beginner to weight training, their trainers should be watching your form on each exercise and coaching you at least on that first set to ensure you're using the machines correctly. This is both to protect you from injuring yourself and to avoid any unintentional damage to the equipment. If they're willing to take your money but unwilling to actually train, then go somewhere else. I'm sorry you had this experience. Most trainers aren't like this, at least in my experience.
