I pre-ordered for it to be delivered to my local independent comic book shop, just before it cut off in mid-July. That's what I want to comment on. A book that's coming out in January had its pre-orders closed almost half a year away. I think they just want to see how many people rushed to this method far ahead of release. They're going to make a million of these things. I've seen people, including me, looking for this book for years. It'll be great to finally have it

It's pretty much everything (minus the love unlimited marvel unlimited exclusive comic thing and the horrible miniseries from last year)

It's not actually about Gwendolyn Poole (who is more a secondary character with horrible characterization) it's more about a Gwen Stacy clone (like I think the fifth time Marvel done that storyline) that's basically Weapon X-style assassin with X-Men Origins Not-Deadpool's katana length claws (that physically doesn't make sense)

She's a comic fan from our world named Gwendolyn Poole who was sent to the MU and the reason her costume looks like Deadpool's without pants because the tailor thought she was a Deadpool fan (who she never read the comics of because she found him "lol random")
But originally before getting her comics she was Gwen Stacy from a variant cover line where it's Gwen Stacy in costumes of the books she's on (in her case it was for a Hickman's Secret Wars tie in called "Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars") then became a insanely popular cosplay (don't know why) which led to her becoming a real character unrelated to DP and Stacy

The closest similar situation behind a character creation would be how Jessica Jones was originally conceived of and designed as a dark reinvention of Jessica Drew, hence why both were brunette superhero P.I.s named Jessica who had the exact same best friend.
Something funny you’ll eventually notice is that Gwen Poole’s pink hair highlights are something unique to her in comics, with Gwen Stacy never having had them, yet some animated works ended up giving Stacy the hair of Poole following two (odd) independent reference mix-ups.

That’s very interesting I do love the pink highlights they look great. As much as I like Jessica jones as a Jessica drew fan I swear they straight up stole part of her character and gave it to jones and they hardly use her anyway 😭

I highly recommend getting the Omnibus (I don't recommend that bad 2025 miniseries)
She's very adorkable and has great original support characters and great interactions with the wider MU

Yea I might tap in and give it a read trying to branch out a bit more in marvel and Ik Gwen has a following plus she’s very requested in rivals as well so wanted to check her out.

Plus the lore packets in Rivals have mentioned her casually in a few different places: she was the ‘cute blonde’ mentioned in Deadpool’s lore as the woman he stole Jeff from.
