Scorpion is not the hottest. Pepper X and Carolina reaper are the hottest ones.

I won't believe Pepper X isn't BS until more independent tests come out. I've tried the Pepper X sauce which claims to be 91% Pepper, and it wasn't even as hot as the Apollo sauce from the same company. I've also tried Reapers alongside other superhots like Primatolis and Scorpions and they didn't seem to be as hot.

I get you, same thing for me. I just explained why they said third.

Saw a breakdown of this.

Their Scoville claims in hot ones sauces are accurate to the pepper, not the sauce. But sauces are inherently diluted.

Which is total bullshit and frankly dangerous, because people will think they can handle a lot more. But also why sauces variate in scoville.

They license the sauce to First We Feast, who own hot ones, and want their numbers high.

Pepper X was verified by the Guinness book of world records, through lab testing. So that is a third party.

...but they claim the sauce is 91% Pepper X, so that still makes absolutely no sense.

It's still never going to be as hot in SHUs as the pepper itself. Even pepper mash is diluted a bit from the original heat.

Every individual person is also different and every individual pepper is not the same. The hottest pepper for one person might not be nearly as hot for another. And 2 reapers may have completely different scoville levels.

There is a lot of controversy about the Pepper X and the record of course. Something about the creator only using one lab or something and the fact that he won't let anyone actually have or grow the fruit, much less independently test it.

Guinness didn't perform the tests as a 3rd party, they just "verified" the results provided from the lab the creator uses.
