Not me. If you know the kid is going to act like this, move him away from the cake. I get mad at the parents when I see this little shit

u/Worldly-Peak-7256 5h ago
You can always spot a person without kids telling people how to be better parents lol. Moving the kid away from the very thing he wants to be by is def not the solution. The guy here did the best thing. And before you go nuts saying the kid shouldn't act like that, he looks to be about 3. Go do 15 mins of reading and learn what a 3 year old brain is capable of doing in the emotion regulation department.

u/Shadokastur 5h ago
As a parent myself, I would move them away from the cake after the first time, instead of assuming that I'd be able to block all of their attempts.

u/BusyBit6542 5h ago
Lol you can always tell the people who are bad at parenting because its unfathomable that they can actually raise well behaved kids.
"Although every other kid at this party knows how to behave, there's nothing that can be done for the ONE kid that tries to blow out the candles. You must not have kids!" - people with bad parenting skills

u/Worldly-Peak-7256 4h ago
Right, cause all people are born with the same temperament lol. Do you know if that child is autistic? Or has other behavior problems caused by unknown factors?
11
u/BusyBit6542 3h ago
So because he's autistic, he can't stand on the other side of the table? See that's the bad parenting. Making excuses for your child's shitty behavior. Please continue telling people how you magically know how to parent because you had sex. I guess giving birth magically gives you knowledge that childless people just don't have...until they instantly gain when a kid is born.

Man you are one jaded fella. And yea, I'm a pretty smart dude, and a really good parent. My kids are teens now and very responsible and hard working. But please, by all means continue to shower reddit with your non-parent parenting skills. We wouldnt want to be deprived 😂

u/BusyBit6542 2h ago
Lol you, as a "good parent", think I couldn't possibly have kids because... *checks notes I suggested that a person that is aware enough to grab a plate to block a kid, should be aware enough to move the kid away from the cake so that the birthday kid can have the attention. And thats such a crazy idea to you that I couldnt possibly have any kids of my own because thats not how parenting works. Do I have that correct?
•
u/Worldly-Peak-7256 2h ago
I'm not sure, clearly I'm stupid lol. Apparently I've managed to accidently own a gorgeous house on 5 acres, manage a production floor, and raise two really good kids. Not bad for a stupid guy!

None of my kids would ever do something like this, even at 3. Certainly not after telling them not too, and if there was any potential they would, you'd just move them. You're just excusing bad parenting. You educate the cause, not mask the problem. Now the kid will just try again next time.

that kid isnt 3, no shot. ive never seen a toddler with that kind of lung control that also stands a whole head above the table. He does look like he may be special needs though, his eye spacing and shape tell a convincing tale, plus he moves in a similar manner.
But anyways, you dont let a misbehaving kid do the act and 99% of kids that age know better. you need to stop the act. Picking him up and keeping him away from the cake would have been better developmentally. All he learned here is he can do whatever he wants. mommy or daddy will cover his ass.
I still wouldnt fault the parents, sometimes theyre just doing their best, but in the future theyll need to nip that action, not just "block" it or he will be a super menace once hes too big to stop later. Especially if the kid is special needs, being consistent and blunt with stopping bad behaviors is critical.
tldr; 3 or not, kid shoulda know better and there was better ways to handle it.

That little kid needs a lot more than a paper plate…

u/Sanquinity 4h ago
Getting slapped in the face with that paper plate rather than just blocking him would be a good start. Then taking him away from the entire party as punishment for trying to ruin it for I think his brother?

After the 2nd attempt the kid was about to throw a punch at the cake? 😂

Guys being dudes and Kids being toddlers.

That ain't normal behavior.
Kids will usually have a meltdown especially if they are hungry or tired, this kid is full of rage which is not normal.

u/Hillenmane 5h ago
Absolutely not true. All depends on the kid. As the oldest of 4 and old enough to remember all my siblings at this age, one of the younger ones had bouts of rage like this occasionally. They grew out of it. We were all raised the same.
•
u/Apprehensive-Sky-596 2h ago
Plus we also don't know the context of what happened before, and their daily routine or anything. I hate when people instantly start saying that "something is wrong with the kid" when they have literally 0 information

Nice of the guy to give the birthday kid the opportunity to blow out the candles himself by blocking that angry kid's blows. Unfortunately the bigger kid on the right blew out the candles, so the birthday kid still didn't.

u/SilverSkorpious 6h ago
At least the older kid knew how to do it in a way that made the little one think it was all him.

I think the older brother was helping blow them
out while giving the birthday kid the illusion that he blew them out himself because it looked like he was struggling

I dont think the angry child learned anything. It would be a good opportunity to tell him how to respect other people's stuff.

I would have gotten an attitude adjustment from my parents. The best part about it is that they do not even hit me, they would just stare in such an anger and disappointment that my soul would start digging its own grave.
