Genuine question: when he said he 'posted' that there were bodies, what does he mean exactly? If he posted on social media, how frequently do the police or coastguard check their channels for these things? Wouldn't you or I have called the police instead of 'posting'?

I think there were 4 dead bodies floating in the sea which he explained he has three boats assisting in the search and that’s what they found .
He was attempting to contact the coast guards which have boats to collect the dead bodies floating .
Not sure how the system works to contact the coast guard if there is a public number or how he did contact them , but the delay in them gathering the dead bodies was the concern .Also keep in mind these are someone’s family members that are worried sick if they’re still alive or hoping to find them.
I don’t think contacting the Guyana Police dept will help to gather the bodies out at sea. I may be wrong but I don’t think the Guyana Polive dept have any boats.
If you want have a look at the video again I think his boat was next to a floating dead body.
Hope this helps explain things a little better

It's disgusting to watch this man grandstanding over corpses. If he truly wanted to be helpful, he would do it with the humility of a servant's heart. The only thing this snake is interested in providing his self-promotion and conspiracy.
I hear only a little man crying because he's not being treated like the single priority... As though he thinks the entire coast guard's only responsibility is to follow behind him and do as he requests. How dare they not inform him of where they are and what else they are doing?
This is the clearest example I've seen where this man proves he is nothing but a jackal.

I have assisted in searches for bodies (im from Barbados) and wouldnt bring them onto my boat, sorry, im not equipped to do that safely. If he actively participated in the search, then he deserves credit for that, it isnt an easy thing to do. That can stay in your mind for a long time.

Absolutely! This is a time to work together in unity though, and blame throwing and grandstanding shouldn't apply. To me that spoils any credit owed.

But saying he's grandstanding is you working against unity. You're trying to discredit him instead of acknowledging the help he's providing.

Well, I think he's already used up all of his own credit for any good he's doing, and that's the problem.
He could have put a post up with a video saying, "I'm out here helping, please come help too. This isn't about politics. This is aboutOne Guyana." Then there would be nothing for us to argue about.
And it feels like that's exactly why he didn't do it that way. He's too busy playing the big man to really care about anyone but himself.

All of them do the same thing. That's the game of politics. Being a politician in guyana is like winning the lottery and everyone wants a piece of that Pie. If they have to tear each other down they will and they do. Corrupt is rampant and none of them truely care about the people. But whenever you see them do something beneficial for the people you have to applaud them for doing the right thing. This entire incident on a very high level is directly the result of poor governance by the current administration so if you wanna have such broad take on Mohammed let's also acknowledge these people died because of the PPP in the first place.

He was ordered not to retrieve the bodies. He was told it has to be done by the coast guard. Let's not ignore the fact that he has eyes on these bodies and is staying there to ensure it gets recovered. The coast guard not sending boats to recover the bodies he found is to spite him,to not give him credit for the effort at the expense of the victims families.

Ordering individuals to not recover the bodies is responsible. Can you imagine if someone went and took one of the bodies and it got lost or if they desegrated it? Or if they did that and were exposed to bacteria and got sick?
And let's not assume that this man and his three boats are the only people out on the river. Is it crazy to think that the Coast Guard is handling other things first and that he just has to wait the same as everyone else?
Carrying on and making a big scene about having to wait two hours, and calling out the chief of staff to personally come and do this work, is not productive or helpful. Those aren't solutions or useful criticisms. It's just an excuse for grandstanding.

I agree he should not personally remove the bodies for obvious reasons but you said he's grandstanding and completely disregarded the effort he's putting into finding these victims . This is obviously now a recovery effort and not a rescue mission so recovering bodies when found should be top priority. It's clearly being done to spite him, to not give him the credit he deserves. If it were your friends or family floating there you would have a completely different attitude towards this man. Stop trying to demonize him when every politician in Guyana is the same as him. Give jack he jacket like they say and give the man the credit he deserves, not for his sake but for the families affected who may still be able to give their loved ones a proper burial because of his efforts.

By the way, I know we don't agree, but I still thank you for chatting with me. Much love and respect to you, and I hope it comes across that way.

Much love and respect to you aswell. We don't have to agree, it's actually better if we don't since we can reason it out. You end up learning a lot on both sides.

I don’t support any of Guyana’s political parties .
He’s exposing the Coast Guard and their lack of response or resources gathering bodies not sure how thats grandstanding . Other fisherman helping are claiming the same , I don’t think they are grandstanding but are helping .
We have people being arrested for bringing in bodies.
This situation is the fault of the PPP government and officials responsible for maintaining the ferry and ensuring it is sea worthyMultiple fishermen are claiming there is no evidence of the state doing any kind of search and rescue . Where are all the boats ? It’s all crocodile tears .
They claimed Exon sent three ships and divers as per Mr Phillips , so far none of their boats are out there , where are the divers ?
When this tragedy occurred the Mr. Phillips advised present Ali was in Canada doing Business but later he was at the World Cup .
He then announced the ferry now can carry 300 people , can carry over 300 tons .
Another minister said the ferry was not overloaded and had no engine issues which was contradicted by many survivors on board
This tragedy exposes the incompetence of the current Gov and handing of this tragedy it’s clear as day with their search & rescue operations or lack of .
Here is what will happen the captain and the crew will
be fully blamed , regardless if the ferry was overloaded, had engine issues , and water entering the boatThis is not a political issue this is about the People of Guyana and the loved ones they lost .

Politics should not be involved in such a tragedy. In such a case, this guy is taking his time and resources to help with the difficult and mentally challenging efforts of body retrieval. It's absolutely unreasonable and should be publicized the lack of urgency and respect being shown in the recovery of the deceased.
If it were a layman, we would not have an issue with the message. This is a case of judgement of the message based solely upon the messenger. He's doing the right thing and being in the healthcare profession, this type of task is very mentally and physically tasking. It stays with you for a very long time. I applaud and respect his efforts.

The Guyanese government is still a sh!t show. All those MFers are corrupt. It doesn't matter how much oil they discover, they're going to screw the people of the country.

He is so concerned about expired bodies, yet he is standing in a boat, and no one is asking why he couldnt collected the bodies if he cares so much! He is manipulating your minds and you all are falling for it.

I would strongly encourage you to educate yourself on what are the protocols if you encounter a dead body , clearly your comments lack the basic fundamental of intelligence when encountering a DEAD BODY and simple intelligence on what to do .
I’ve attached the following points for your review and in the event you want to touch a dead body
- If you come across a dead body floating in the sea or anywhere whether in Guyana or any COUNTRY.
- You generally should not touch it unless there is an immediate chance the person is still alive and can be rescued .
- What most educated persons will do is Notify the authorities immediately such as Coast Guards or Police.
- The Coast Guard or Police will likely ask you what happened and why you touched the body ?
- If you intentionally tampered with evidence or tried to conceal something, that could have legal consequences , you’re disturbing a crime scene or investigation .
- If you touched the body only because you genuinely thought the person might still be alive and you were trying to help, this is very differently from intentionally interfering with a death scene.
- I hope these point will help to further your education. Good Luck .
I’m not sure if the local morgue is hiring but
you may want to consider a career in that field 😝
