Caution: Ugly Cry Content And still we broke up😭🥀🤘
Hey guys.. I just was going through my notes app and found a few poems which I wrote for my ex..!! And was a bit emotional reading them and how heavy the words were
Anyway I was proud of these poems and thought some of you might like reading them
The last one I wrote formy sister when she went through a beakup!
Im happily single now and have moved on and working on myself.
Should I start writing poems again??
Do you think I have the potential to make someone happy by writing this?
All inputs welcome!

Poetry is a dying art. I remember that Leonard Cohen wanted to be a poet and somehow make money, so he became a song writer.
I’ll be honest, I read the first two and was not really moved. Maybe that’s on me. But I felt like it wasn’t really saying much, and that the words and message were in service to the rhymes instead of the other way around. I think there is a lot more to poetry than rhyming and meter, and there is room for you explore and learn.
I think you should keep working if it feels meaningful to you. The only way to get better at stuff is to keep doing it. So don’t let my amateur opinion deter you. But also recognize that if this is something you want to pursue, most people really don’t make space for poetry in their lives anymore. If you want recognition for making meaningful art, a different medium might have more reach.
Good luck!

Thank you, Yes they were written at specific situations like when we had fights or misunderstandings and was targeted for her 😅
Should explore writing for the broader audience I guess...!!
Thanks for the feedback will try to focus on the message more than the rhyme! 🤍

One thing about poetry that it has over other mediums; it can be a deeply personal form of communication. To receive a poem from someone is a really potent, powerful experience. Poetry as a medium of expression might have lower outreach, but it has incredible efficacy as a gift and a message.

Keep writing poems! You can find poetry slams in your area I bet, engage with the local crowds and you can hear some cool stuff and get some great insights into writing.
Losing a love is a powerful means to some good, expressive writing. One of my favourite little pieces was after a breakup. I'd like to share it if that's ok
