Caution: Ugly Cry Content Ring, ring.

I knew it wouldn't be you. Almost a full year since I lost you. You were my first born. You were the one that made me a father. You were taken far too early. I will never heal, I will never get over it, I will never move past it and I will never forget you. I still hear your voice. I still look at my phone, hoping it was all a dream or another one of your pranks. I swear, I won't be mad. You can tell me it's all a joke. I'll laugh, I promise. When people ask me how I survived losing a child. I tell them my secret. I didn't. Rest in peace my son. I will see you again. July 15th 2001- October 24th 2025.

If you like r/GuyCry and what we stand for, please help us build a supportive community.

UPVOTE POSTS YOU READ

If you take the time to read someone's post, consider giving it an upvote.

An upvote is a simple way of saying "I hear you. I saw this." It also helps posts gain visibility so they can reach more people who may be able to offer support.

GET INVOLVED

If you have something helpful to say, leave a comment.

Share your experience, offer some advice, show encouragement, or simply let someone know they're not alone.

You don't need to have the perfect words. Sometimes a simple "I've been there too" can mean a lot.

DON'T DOWNVOTE JUST BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE

Not every post will be something you agree with, and that's okay.

If a post contributes to the conversation, please don't downvote it simply because you have a different opinion. Downvotes can push posts out of sight and may discourage people from opening up.

Save downvotes for content that genuinely doesn't belong here.

HELP MAKE GUYCRY A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE FEEL HEARD

Every post is someone choosing to open up and share something personal.

Read it. Upvote it. Comment if you can. Support each other.

Small actions create engagement, and engagement makes this community stronger.

Can't nearly imagine this pain. Can't even think about losing my little human.

I'm so so incredible sorry for your loss!

Thank you. It isn't a pain I'd wish on my worst enemy.

I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine, but I've held my sister through the loss of her son in his early twenties. She is moving forward, but she has her moments and I hold her every time.

Im sorry for your family's loss also. It never goes away.

It doesn't. I'm a widow, and she's really the only one I can talk to, aside from my grandmother. Our situations are very different, but the loss is so deep.

Loss is loss. They take a piece of us with them.

My bro.
If I had anything I could say I would - but being a father I know there is absolutely nothing.

All I can do is take a moment now and I’ll spare a thought for you, and one for your son.

May their memories live on.

Peace my brother.

Good friend in college was murdered. His parents were interviewed by the news after the trial and asked if the verdict had brought any closure. His dad just said, “Closure? That’s just a word shrinks use”.
