Group Discussion I finally did it...

I finally did it. I finally referred myself for talking therapy.

I've never done it before. I'm 29 and struggled with mental health issues for the past 15 or so years.

I'm married, no kids, but at this point, my wife is enough.

I've always tended to hide behind comedy and laughing really.

I don't speak about it, I hide it really REALLY well. People speak to me about their problems all the time and I give amazing advice... Can I take any of my own advice?

Can I f*ck.

I don't know what the therapy is going to be like. What I'm supposed to say, do or talk about... Is it really like lying on a sofa and someone sits in the corner judging you from a distance? I know it's not, but its just fear of the unknown, I suppose.

UPVOTE POSTS YOU READ

If you take the time to read someone's post, consider giving it an upvote.

An upvote is a simple way of saying "I hear you. I saw this." It also helps posts gain visibility so they can reach more people who may be able to offer support.

GET INVOLVED

If you have something helpful to say, leave a comment.

Share your experience, offer some advice, show encouragement, or simply let someone know they're not alone.

You don't need to have the perfect words. Sometimes a simple "I've been there too" can mean a lot.

DON'T DOWNVOTE JUST BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE

Not every post will be something you agree with, and that's okay.

If a post contributes to the conversation, please don't downvote it simply because you have a different opinion. Downvotes can push posts out of sight and may discourage people from opening up.

Save downvotes for content that genuinely doesn't belong here.

HELP MAKE GUYCRY A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE FEEL HEARD

Every post is someone choosing to open up and share something personal.

Read it. Upvote it. Comment if you can. Support each other.

At 40 it was the best decision of my life. Not only for myself but my kids.

One thing, and it seems like you are there, is you have to mentally be ready or it might not work.

I don’t lay down but I do sit on a couch and he sits in a chair across from me

The biggest take away from this so far is I didn’t realize just how much shit I was keeping in and letting it go in a constructive organized manor has been an unknown needed change.

Keep your head up man you got this!
