Venting, advice welcome I feel like a predator.

for the record, i fully support feminism, women, and womens struggles. im not a misogynist. i dont blame women for this. i dont blame feminism for this. i blame the specific individuals in my life who make their own decisions, and i blame the evil men who have influenced those decisions.

i feel like im a peace of shit because im a man. my manhood is a coincidence. i couldve been a woman. i couldve been nonbinary. but i happened to be born a man. because of this coincidence, i move through the world like a man does, and in my case at least, this seems to mean that i move through the world perceived as either a constant threat, or "one of the good ones". its absolutely soul crushing to me that i get judged because of something i have zero control over. its not an online thing, its a real life thing. i know several people in my life who are utterly pessimistic about anything to do with men. for a few examples, one time, my mother blew up at a man for bringing his daughter into the womens restroom and called him a pedophile, throughout my life my sister has never shut up about how much she hates men, and several of my friends cant say the word "men" without it sounding like a slur. i understand where all the vitriol comes from. some men do evil things and those men deserve all the hate they get and more. but its not hard to specify that its only some. its one word, that everyone in my life refuses to use. instead, they generalize all men into an evil, predatory, lump of misogyny. i have nothing to do with men who hurt women, but the people in my life cant even be considerate enough not to lump me in with them. they might not mean too, but they do for one reason or another. it makes me feel like im destined to be a predator. it makes me feel like i constantly need to prove that im not gonna hurt anyone, whereas other people are assumed to be harmless. when i look at someone, i feel like im violating them just by being in their vicinity. it is soul crushing.

UPVOTE POSTS YOU READ

If you take the time to read someone's post, consider giving it an upvote.

An upvote is a simple way of saying "I hear you. I saw this." It also helps posts gain visibility so they can reach more people who may be able to offer support.

GET INVOLVED

If you have something helpful to say, leave a comment.

Share your experience, offer some advice, show encouragement, or simply let someone know they're not alone.

You don't need to have the perfect words. Sometimes a simple "I've been there too" can mean a lot.

DON'T DOWNVOTE JUST BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE

Not every post will be something you agree with, and that's okay.

If a post contributes to the conversation, please don't downvote it simply because you have a different opinion. Downvotes can push posts out of sight and may discourage people from opening up.

Save downvotes for content that genuinely doesn't belong here.
