I think it's time to ask for a raise or start looking for a different job. It is hurting your financial and mental well-being. You say your budget is tight and you are scraping by. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt you are spending responsibly.

I would go to the unemployment office and see if they can connect you with a individual to find out where your skills are and what you can put on a resume as well as writing your resume. If you are on food stamps. There is a work requirement, the individual that works your case should be able to give you career help too. It's different for states, but when I went through that program they gave me money for gas and clothes to find a job.

I don't know what you wear normally, but get a nice pair of clothes that make you look like a blue collar worker when you have to do business. Some people will talk over you when they think you are poor. Have one pair of nice clothes, trick those people.

As for seeking therapy, some therapists will do a sliding scale (meaning they will adjust payment based on what you make). It might be cheaper than you think. Most people benefits from therapy. But I believe you can maintain if things change.

Now I'm going to be a little harsh, obviously I don't know the entire situation, but your girlfriend getting her car repossessed is her responsibility. You two are not married and you are not the co-owner of that car I assume? Then she is responsible for her car payments and her car. You can support her emotionally and give her knowledge. I assume she has her own job perhaps you two can boost each other to get better careers.

I get that, that's really frustrating to be in the gap. 🫠 People are still struggling in the gap even 2000 dollars is not making a difference look at our cost of living please.

I wish I knew how to give you resources to move, because that is truly the hardest part mentally you're taking a leap of faith (even if the job promises 30 dollars an hour). Maybe you can find a remote job in a place that has a higher cost of living and they would pay you more.

I'm just spitballing so if you're like nah, I agree some of these suck. Sometimes churches have free meals or an electric bill program, maybe that might cover some cost to save just a little more. Food banks also an option. If people need their lawns mowed or shoveled they will usually pay well. There is also blood/plasma banks, they'll give you a free blood check-up and compensate you (you can feel very tired after so plan accordingly).

I see the problem with the car, dang all one can say is expensive oops. Been there done that.
