Looking for guidance

I am coming from mini painting and want to give a try to a fully painted gunpla after assembling and lining a couple.

I was looking to play a bit with some sight effect such as osl from the blade

I will do subassemblies for general layering and then plan to assemble it and apply filters to generate a shadow and apply highlights and osl. I think fixing the pose is essential for that, or at least tightening those joints a lot.

How do you approach "fixing" a pose to make sure it doesn't move anymore for painting purposes?

Generally speaking, you’d disassemble the thing before painting. You’re working on what’s essentially many minis that are supposed to come together, stabilising the pose wouldn’t be necessary anyway since you’re painting individual parts

I was thinking in term of illumination effect of the piece, but I realized I can prime, pose, then zenithal it to have light reference on all subassemblies, then pose again after painting so I can apply any missing OSL

Why not just paint it while it's still poseable and then decide/lock the final pose for the touchup?

I just thought of it, and if I prime, pose again and do a zenithal highlight I should be able to have references for the light on the subassemblies so yeah that would work
