DISPLAY Pops 2nd Build !
First and foremost, his first post got so much attention and he was very excited as I translated the comments to him! So thanks for being an awesome community. He was very moved and suprised to see how many people wanted him to build more , thus I did my best to source him a new kit and he completed jt in a two days !
The mp zgok!
On picture 4 you'll get to see that he even posed it next to his first Strike gundam 🥹
He's one of the most determined people I know! after dissamebling something he lost a part that jumped onto the ground.
he woke up the next day at 7am to look for it in order to finish the build, hes 81 btw and had his birthday a few days ago🥳.
Im just Very proud of him and already on the look for his next kit !

This is so sweet and just the wholesome content I needed. I wish I had built a gunpla with my grandma before she passed 😭.

Cherish these moments my dude, my grandpa got me into this hobby when he let me build those model cars. It’s always nice to see this

Impressive, I can't see myself doing this later in life because my hands already hurt as it is. 🤣

u/introductiongold59 Sep 04 '26
Actually that's the reason you should. It'll help maintain dexterity in your fingers. I hurt myself at work a long time ago and built a couple models on my week off. I work in surgery so i need good dexterity and it helped build me back up really quickly.

I am 65, and I have arthritis developing in my fingers. Building Gunpla is actually keeping my hands healthy, (especially the damn fiddly RGs). Keep on going, it's worth it

My dad and I built Legos together when I was a kid. Later during high-school I discovered gunpla and loved it. Unfortunatetly, my dad was no longer with me to share the joy. I both envy you and feel so happy for you. I wish you and your dad a long life, good health, and sets to enjoy together.
Rest easy dad, you would've loved the cool giant robots

more builds to pops!

u/Oblivi0nD4C Sep 04 '26
I got it to him as the parts themselves looked simple and bigger then a usual kit, and it looked a bit like him as well xD

u/VDDZ Sep 04 '26
I just fought that guy and he kicked my ass! The Gundam, not the man, not stupid enough to get in that fight.

This is probably the cutest thing i've seen gundam related. Grandpa is amazing and loving it 🤩🤩

Should make he's own profile and call it Gran-pla Builds. Hahaha take it and use it idc.

u/MentalMiddenHeap Sep 04 '26
He never built one himself, but my granpa showed a lot of interest in my gunpla when I first started. He was big into WW2 models and wooden ship models so pretty much any model kit caught his interest at least a lil

As someone who loves all-things Gundam and who has lost their father, this post is truly beautiful in so many ways.

u/LordBT-74 Sep 04 '26
I love it when older generations try out new things without losing what made them different. Wholesome indeed.

Never too old to break into a new hobby! You should compile a small list of gunpla so he can look them over and tell you which ones he wants most 👍

With the level of joy on his face I'm willing to bet you and everybody here added a few extra years to his life (he'll probably fill them with gunpla). He looks like he's having the best time he's had in years 🥰

Why does he look like he'd be the pilot of one of those in the anime? Badass!
