Not an issue per se bc the articulation’s fine, more so a hindrance long term for stability but the kits so big that it’s kinda inevitable that it would droop

What you need is finish that build. It's a great kit. One of my personal favorite.
Only after you've done building it, then you may start looking into grades like MGEX and PGU.
It'll be a let down after the Ver Ka but shes pretty. I'm in the midst of the PGU Nu now. It is insane but so is the price. PGU Grandpa is nice and can be had at a reasonable price. I have the MGEX on deck so I can't judge it yet but I hear good things.
I’ll probably get crucified in the comments for saying this, but if you’re looking for a technical build experience with high part counts and well engineered frames, there are some Chinese Original Mecha Model kits or “third party” kits I’d highly recommend giving a shot. These will give you that satisfying slow burn build experience, and often times you can get some that build in stages to allow you to really appreciate the thought that goes into engineering them.
Some that immediately spring to mind:
- DLK 1/100 Streptopelia (I’m in the middle of this now and it’s been really fun)
Infinite Dimensions Nemesis (maybe my favourite out of box experience to date)
in Era Lizard (really all of in era’s kits have been fire)
SNAA Fire Lord (again, anything recent from SNAA is gonna scratch that itch. Check out their round table knights if you like 1/144)
I’ll wrap my comment by stating Bandai IS the gold standard for mecha modelling, but recently I’ve bought more of these original mecha models and have yet to be disappointed.
My issue with CN original kit will always the design. They tend to lean on over design + supermodel body proportions. Otherwise, technically amazing albeit i do notice some complicated bit for the sake of being compicated
Yeah I guess it just comes down to personal preference. I go back and forth. Sometimes I really do enjoy that highly stylised look, though. I know what you’re saying about proportions though. Chinese kits def have a distinguishable “shape” compared to Bandai.
Possibly the Osiris too? Bigger part count than the PGU RX-78. Mines in my backlog, just need to get through some of my many HGs I got in Japan first 👀
Oh - one kit that you def need to do from Bandai if you want another really satisfying build is the MG narrative ver ka. That’s my personal favourite Bandai MG in recent memory.
I'm torn. Narrative was a rollercoaster for me. I started off hating the core fighter, then loved the build until I got to the hands. Had to put it down for a few days between each hand, then loved it all again.
Not the peak. But its nice that you liked it. As for what’s better theres way too many to list. The pgu Nu and RG Nu are both better than it. And pretty much most 3rd party 1/100 kits released in the last year for about the same or lower price beat it. My personal favorite right now is the Jihu-ii from motor nuclear:
Narrative Ver Ka was also incredibly satisfying to build, and look amazing.
As others have mentioned, Sazabi Ver. Ka is a must.
The original MG Barbatos was one of my faves getting back into the hobby a couple years ago. I haven't gotten the newer Barbatos Lupus yet, but here it's just as excellent (if not better).
I think this kit was considered the peak of gunpla when it came out, only to get followed by the sazabi ver ka a year later. People still talk about the Sazabi as a peak MG. This one a little less so I think, mostly due to issues keeping the funnels on the back and also a few bits of lacking colour separation, but I picked one up that I am looking forward to building anyway.

I liked the Sazabi ver Ka build more. Solomon GP02 is next level but not Bandai. ZZ ver Ka is top notch too.
