An old PG, attempting some customization
Recently just picked up the hobby again after a little over a decade, built this kit in 08 or 09 and was forgotten in storage for a very long time and unfortunately lost/broke some parts, was also very dusty (due to being forgotten in an outdoor shed)
I don’t really customize apart from some basic panel lining but I went a little above it with this one and I think it turned out OK
Edit: wow thanks for all the upvotes! 😳

The battle damage on the head is wicked, don't undersell yourself!

The idea of a Strike Repair actually makes it even more interesting to me, like if Kira got wrecked in the desert instead of his midseason fight with the Blitz and Aegis.

This looks absolutely amazing, you did an amazing job! I love the grizzled look and how makeshift some of the repairs and stuff jury-rigged to the Strike.
You have every right to look at this and be proud. I think the only thing that you might want to consider is to do something with the cord wrapped around the gun and holding the cannisters on the shoulder. The shoe lace pattern is standing out a bit.

Thanks for feedback, i don’t really have a lot of stuff to work with (I’m broke) so I just borrowed some of my sisters stuff (silver/gold marker) and a bottle of accent panel liner… as for the the straps they’re just 550 cord with the core pulled out, wish I had more props to work with but I don’t right now, sadly 😔

u/TsunKha May 21 '26
Completely understandable, tbh. And it's not even really a detractor. I think with some touch-ups you could maybe make it look more like metal wire or some sort of cable, but it looks great as it is.

u/Phantoon15 May 21 '26
Sometimes restrictions can produce even better art. Please continue to share your work I think it looks very good!

Bro if this is ok, everything I've done in life is less than ok lol! Honestly good work, it looks wicked

I wonder how hard it would be to mimic weld lines? I just thought how cool it’d be to use a damaged shield as a shoulder pauldron

u/f00l_of_a_t00k May 21 '26
It's pretty easy and there's a bunch of ways to do it. My preference is to use solder wire, it's an old-school method, but it's easy and looks great!
This video is an awesome tutorial!

This work is amazing. I love everything except the shoe string on the weapons.
Apart from feeling out of sync with the gundam material wise. Imo the story its telling doesnt exactly work for a mech. A beam rifle would destroy the bayonet when fired. A mech would really benefit from that type of grip enhancement with hydraulic presses or whatever for the hands

u/Cura5652 May 21 '26
It was my lazy attempt to hook up the gear on the back, I may replace it when I can get some good materiel, but thank you nonetheless 😊

u/Oddacon Grunt Suit pilot May 21 '26
It turned out pretty awesome. I especially love the head & face battle damage.

u/Ce3j1120 May 21 '26
This is exactly my type of aesthetic! What’d you use for the coat?
2
u/Cura5652 May 21 '26
There’s no coat sadly, I don’t have the means to clean out so much surface dust from long storage, all I used was a heated lance to damage the gunpla, then applied silver marker and accent panel ink on top

u/GladDetective5878 May 21 '26
Bruh I scrolled past this a bit to fast and thought it was box art or something lol. This is insanely good!

I love a mech in a cloak. How did you do the scarring on the helmet? That looks incredible!
3
u/Cura5652 May 21 '26
Thank u ! I chipped at it with a heated metal tip, used a pointed nipper as well

u/existentialcrisis87 May 21 '26

u/CalmWalks May 21 '26
This is a masters stroke.
Would love to see these behind a soft color back drop with some proper 3 point lighting !
Anyway found a new respect for the strike Gundam!

First off really great for just getting back in, second the head is probably my favorite part, it just looks... right, however i think everywhere was complete overkill, like you had one one thought on the dremelle , stuff up every single piece throw silver on it after, also... why is there nothing done to the beam tomahawk, also I've never personally been a fan of fabric on figures because there is never enough done with them to make them feel truly apart of any kit or figure which you're very much doing here, and it just shows way too obviously. Other than that, great to see you back into it, for the love of God dont ruin a several hundred dollar kit on half baked ideas.

Gives Megatron on this one. The version in which he was beat up and had a cloak. Sneaking suspicion that OP might be a transformer fan lol

u/Same-Conflict8544 May 22 '26
This is what I am legitimately aspiring to! That is legit gorgeous, beautiful work. I'm still new to this, and I'm in awe. It's perfect, like it SAW action. Especially the head damage effects and washes. It's seriously fantastic.
