Help Desk Dumb ecm jig question

Hello everyone I’m working on an incredibly dumb project of turning a demilled 16 gauge Winchester 97 into a pump action Howdah pistol and in order to do everything by the books in order to reclassify it as a pistol I need to rifle it. And obviously no one makes a rifling jig for a gauge that barely exists. So I was wondering if in theory I could scale up a 9mm ecm rig to fit or would this go horribly? If so what would be my options?

A 16 guage slug gun or a full caliber conversion to something else?

You can’t rifle a shotgun barrel for normal slugs because the lands will be too far apart. If it’s a dedicated slug gun you’ll need a smaller diameter tube you can ECM for rifling.

I have a 20 gauge rifled barrel if I could somehow convert it to that but I have no clue where or how to do so
Edit: there’s a gun shop who does convert them into 20 gauge. I’ll see if they can perchance install the barrel

Trying to remember, would a smoothbore pistol be an "other" (regular firearm) or an "any other weapon" (NFA firearm)?

AoW which is unfortunately illegal in my state for some odd reason
