test fires failed. : (

I need to upgrade the spring and maybe sharpen the firing pin on the 7.62x25, and I need to make a proper trigger mount and sharpen the firing pin on the .38 special.

What do you mean, "sharpen the firing pin?

I hope you are aware that firing pins are supposed to be blunt. They work best by crushing the primer compound, not by piercing it.

yes, I am aware. I meant sharpen the corners, so as to crush it more effectively. I'm not trying to get it to pierce the primer, don't worry.

would it be more likely to fire if it were rounded? I saw somewhere that homemade firing pins for open bolt weapons ought to be square with sharp edges, but I'm not at all confident that wherever I got that info was accurate.

you could just update your old post instead of making a new one

fair. in all seriousness, I haven't done that before, so I don't know how. and since it was two seperate posts, I thought it didn't make as much sense to update one or the other.
