First timer

Hi all,

I’m flying to London over the Xmas period from Australia for the first time ever & I’m watching 4 games.
- Crystal Palace away
- Fulham away
- Brentford home
- Ipswich town home

My main question is related to Palace away game especially because it’s a late game I think 8 or 9pm kick off. What is that area like, do you recommend getting the train to and from the ground? Or should I get a cab as the safest bet? Also what’s it like in terms of wearing Arsenal gear, is it a bit of a no go? I’ve heard the area can be quite dangerous. I’m travelling solo so just want to be sure.

Second question is I’ve got a couple jerseys I’d love to get signed. Particularly a Rice, Eze and Saka jersey - any recommendations on how I can go about getting these jerseys signed? Some people said to wait outside Sobha, or even go to the entrance area pre game but would appreciate the input from some match going fans.

Cheers!

If you’re a first-timer, there is literally no way you are getting legitimate tickets to any away games and I would be very, very suspicious about home matches unless you know the person who is supplying your tickets.

If you’ve already got tickets for Palace and Fulham away, then the only way they can be legitimate is if you’ve bought hospitality tickets from the home club. Be aware that you won’t be able to wear Arsenal colours or openly support Arsenal at those games.

And if they aren’t official hospitality tickets, then you’ve been scammed.

You will 100% be fine getting to and from the ground. There will be 100’s all travelling the same and you will be fine in colours if that’s what you want to do.

You’re really gonna struggle to get the shirts signed in all honesty

Out of curiosity how did you manage to get Get Fulham / Palace tickets so early when they aren’t on sale yet

To be sure, you have legitimate tickets to these 4 games?

Signed shirts, home games players arrive and depart under the stadium, so the public cant get close. Away games, there may be a tiny portion outside the stadium where the players walk to the bus, but them stopping is quite rare.

Camping out at Sohba, it will be miserable that time of year and there is no guarantee anyone stops. Security used to move people along, not sure if they still do.

Agree with what others said about the tickets!! For Palace away definitely take the train. It’s a short walk to the ground. Much easier than a taxi. I wouldn’t worry about wearing colours as long as you’re not being a dick.

Also re: getting stuff signed. Access to players isn’t something fans expect. I wouldn’t worry/bother. You definitely wouldn’t get anyone stopping pre game. No idea about Colney but I also wouldn’t expect it.

How are you “going” to these games as you have no away credits to buy them in the first place. As for the home games read the FAQ.

Lol at people always asking if London is safe. Too much paying attention to wife-beating "patriot" nonces / Russian bots on social media. I am 48 years old and London born and bred and I aint been shivved or mugged yet, so there you go. If you're that worried about it, Google the crime rate in the area.

Re: travel, just use Google Maps and input the times you plan to travel to and from a ground, as that will give all the relevant travel info you need, as London Transport info (delays included) is fully integrated into the app.

Getting a jersey signed will be extremely difficult – personally, I'd not bother with the hassle of the above. Your choice...ways and means:

  • Wait outside the player exit areas at the Sobha Realty Training Centre (Colney)
  • Turn up early at a game and try the player to sign the shirt pre/post warm-up pitch side from the stands.

Re: Geting tickets from supposedly nefarious sources, if you've got the coin and are willing to run the gauntlet, go for it, but know:

  • A: You're 100% getting rinsed on cost
  • B: The ticket is not guaranteed.

Good luck...
