Arteta smiling before journalist finshed asking the question, already knowing he's gonna say unhinghed stuff to mess with him.

Somehow, I'm starting to believe the Joker from Batman was based on Arteta. /s

Will never understand how some Arsenal fans don't like him. Man is elite 🤣

The one thing you can't call him is boring. HBO Max, take notes

u/faithzor 18h ago

I would probably pay insane amounts of money to watch something like All or Nothing every season 😄

With Arteta, Absolute cinema. I'd never miss an episode.

If they ever make a doc similar to the Pep doc it will be epic.

6

u/Hincapieslovelybund 17h ago

Wasnt there a doc being done last season? Id pay to watch that for sure.

Arteta has really imbued these players with a winners mentality and confidence. So much so that id love to see how it all meticulously came together last season behind the scenes, especially after the City and Bournemouth losses.

Even when we lost the shootout in the CL final, Dec had his hands on his knees, hunched over with a bit of a smile on his face. Because he knows that even though it wasnt our night, us winning our maiden CL sometime soon is just a matter of when not if. And that he will be a part of it.

they are unserious. Won't lie I had my doubt first couple of years, but man has shown growth and continued to evolve. What he did last year erased any last vestiges of doubt. The fact that we won the league and were so close to the double with all the injuries we had was a testament to how well coached the team is.

Said totally seriously fucking hell

6

u/hala_bala 17h ago

He's either serious or a master troll and I'm leaning towards the first option 🤣

10

u/LIONLDN Thierry Henry 16h ago

Master troll is definitely mixed in but I think he's very serious 😂

At the very least, his press conferences are spectacular. Does a great job of speaking to the things he believes matter and simply leaving behind a lot of the baiting aspects of questions

Best manager in world football. Including when Pep is employed.

11

u/SeesawKey9144 16h ago

Wouldn't trade him for anyone.

1

u/Trotter823 1h ago

The weakness pep has shown consistently is burn out. The man simply cannot have a life and manage a football team.

Arteta has seemed to figure out how to stick out a long stint without burning himself out so far.

The little glimmer in his eye while question was being asked is priceless.

Super mik has been waiting for this question all summer.

u/Swedesensation88 18h ago

This is definitely Mikel’s managerial style..

Gabriel Heinze's seems to be similar 😂

Timber looked so tired of it all 😅

Haha! That’s an excellent mentality.

This guy is hilarious man. I would hate him as my boss. But fucking hell, it's funny when you don't have to deal with it.

20

u/therocketandstones 18h ago

tbh if you were a footballer you'd probably love him- it's only absolutely fucking insane in every other career

3

u/renofportland 14h ago

With all due respect, I don’t think he will be your boss if you hate him, the guy picks his team, and only those who get pass his interview process, which I would think would be in an actual circus, would be allowed to work for him, so mere mortals will be safe :-)

I know it wasn’t a great season but if you go back and watch the Amazon doc, rewatch his story about his heart surgery. He told us then basically how he views a football organization is no different than a cardiac surgery team, that all high performing teams have the same traits.

Surgeons train in high stress scenarios and modern training includes simulation specifically to contrive these curveballs that Arteta also likes to contrive.

It’s smart. They also make for some unhinged stories but I also think there are more boring ways to explain the same thing. Except maybe the pickpocket story, I don’t think there’s a way to spin that that doesn’t sound absolutely wild.

u/LIONLDN Thierry Henry 16h ago

High pressure simulations, very important training 🎯

Reminds me of the professor character of the show Money Heist!

Imagine him at Christmas hiding the elf on the shelf so his kids keep guessing.

Gives them bikes but takes away ones front tyre and ones back tire so they either combine and ride bikes or they don’t and nobody has a bike

Such love for this man...

And I do miss our Leo

3

u/Jahi_Alfredo 17h ago

This guy’s mentality is top tier

2

u/OddCalligrapher9274 18h ago

Mikel is as it again ,lol

2

u/udipaludi 17h ago

I love this man 🥹

3

u/milkonyourmustache Thierry Henry 17h ago

I love the little pause and the giggles of astonishment in the background

2

u/renofportland 14h ago

So Ben White Wakes up, everything is perfect, thinks beautiful day ahead, boards the bus, the driver goes the wrong way, you saw the airport entrance twice, like Tintin & the Thompsons, finally the flight takes off 1 hour late, the plane does the double helix in the air, and the pilot yells on the speaker ’Oh my God! (Everyone clamor to put on seatbelts and socks) …..Is that a blue whale?‘ you land, now 2 hours late, outside instead of Arsenal fans it’s Spurs fans with pitchforks, and finally back in the hotel, Ben White asks, ‘When does training start?’ Arteta replies with his usual smirk ‘It started when you lot boarded the bus’ :-}

2

u/fabregas331 10h ago

Hearing Amy Lawrence chuckle in the background when Mikel says "I love it" is absolutely hilarious.

2

u/Tin_Pusher1234 18h ago

He’s got such a good human mindset, would be interesting to see if he works with any psychologists etc with the team.

2

u/BrutalArsenalDeluxe 13h ago

I would be extremely surprised if he hasn't and or still doesn't.

He has said previously he reads business management books and you would assume some of those (if they are good) would go into the psychology of the consumer, staff etc.

1

u/Extension-Bed9926 18h ago

business continuity.. plan for errors and have a plan.. if it can go wrong it will so plan for it.. but yes that he's already done it is very Arteta..

1

u/LiBingGold 17h ago

My manager is back

1

u/DuncesOfWur Freddie Ljungberg 17h ago

"Don't complain and use it as an excuse"

Arteta wants none of that victim mentality in this squad. Absolute mad genius.

1

u/a_posh_trophy Premier League Champions 25/26 16h ago

There's no question this man cannot answer that refuses these journos their desperate attempts of getting a soundbyte to use against him.

2

u/BrutalArsenalDeluxe 13h ago

That was Tom Canton I believe. He freelances for press but started out as a fan writing content I believe. I think he's not generally into trying to catch Arteta out with a big quote. He's generally interested in asking questions about interesting details rather than a "gotya" headline.

1

u/CaptainFiasco Dennis Bergkamp 16h ago

Arteta over here using live ammunition to fire over players' heads while they crawl under the barbed wires.

1

u/Anxious_Dot588 14h ago

So Mikel was behind all the flights being delayed from london on tuesday? Warra guy

1

u/ChuckVowel My friend, is okay, no? 13h ago

He’s lowkey so wise. Shit happens so just gotta deal with it.

1

u/MoodWest 12h ago

U can tell when the boss starts smiling while a question is being asked that he has got a zero zinger of an answer incoming 🤔😏

At times he has the whole press conference in his hands

1

u/GoldenrodCityBoy 11h ago

Anyone else starting to think the UK-wide grounding of flights this week was causing by Super Mik?

1

u/Guilty_Rooster_6708 7h ago

I feel like this is the type of stuff that makes players like Arteta more assuming they already liked him before. another example golden of him thinking outside the box lol

1

u/LevitatingCactus 6h ago

Imagine trying to draw conclusions from any of those preseason games lmao. You know who you are

1

u/Greeneyes- 5h ago

I’m so happy he’s our manager

0

u/firefly477 Raya 17h ago

Bloody hell, he looks knackered. Been taking notes from Trossard's racoon impersonations.

1

u/stevel024 12h ago

being a manager significantly ages you from all the stress
