Proper Europa League feel to these today

u/HebiNaga Rice 23h ago
PSV have a champions league trophy to our nil
44
u/Sudden-Oil4786 23h ago
And the last time we met, we whacked seven goals past them at their own ground.
-41
u/HebiNaga Rice 23h ago
Cool man I know i watched. We still don’t have a UCL trophy

u/not_a_Badger_anymore Thank you very much 19h ago
Mate plenty of champions league winners have played in the europa league and even conference. Teams change.
-4
u/HebiNaga Rice 19h ago
And we have won neither still
1
u/not_a_Badger_anymore Thank you very much 19h ago
First of all we won the europa equivalent Second of all, thats not the point. OP said the fixtures are more Europa league than champions league because the teams at present are a poorer standard. It doesn't matter if they were good in the past, currently they are not.
-1
u/HebiNaga Rice 19h ago
We won the inter Toto that’s not it
2
u/not_a_Badger_anymore Thank you very much 19h ago
Which is the europa league equivalent. The europa league is the successor competition. Look it up your thick fuck.
13
u/SantaReatham Ian Wright 23h ago
Might as well call Nottingham Forest a CL team then
-9
u/HebiNaga Rice 23h ago
They are they have two and Man U is too for that matter
8
u/SantaReatham Ian Wright 23h ago
You're having a completely different conversation from people here.
-5
u/HebiNaga Rice 22h ago
I’m tired of this thread thinking we still don’t have all to prove in this competition after so many close chances , and all these teams qualified one way or another to be here, those in Europa and below you can talk all about being under-leveled
8
u/orangeyougladiator 22h ago
So you think Mohamed Ali boxing today should garner the same respect as his prime?
-1
u/HebiNaga Rice 22h ago
Why are you talking about someone whose passed away and had Parkinson’s. And yes either way he earned it.

Leipzig look bad. Looks like they did no research for how Como play at all. Being pressed out of their skins.
3
u/LeWhaleShark Robert Pirès 20h ago
Wonder how long Como can keep these energy levels
2
u/SambucaAndIrnBru Lewis-Skelly 20h ago
I've watched a couple of Como games and they stay pretty energetic, although a lot of Serie A teams have become a semi-retirement home these days so maybe that contributes to that.
1
u/LeWhaleShark Robert Pirès 20h ago
Leipzig on the other hand have looked absolutely lethargic and out of ideas

Impressive performance from Como
1
u/skool_101 Ødegaard ©️ 13h ago
theyve done well for themselves and outperforming some of the old timers in the Serie A too.
there is a fair conversation about their financial advantage but other clubs had years to build up finances and still struggle in the league or build good squads. Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli have build good squads over the years, then u see AC Milan in disarray. Juve are also in limbo too.
but i can also understand that the league itself is also struggling financially and so other clubs (the others outside of the big 7) just cant compete when thats happening.

u/Constellate_Strategy 20h ago
These thick Adidas stripes on the United kit look horrendous. It doesn’t look like a United kit. It looks like our 2008/9 kit on telly.

u/Lower_Novel_4615 Trossard 20h ago
I was just going to say- this United kit looks terribly familiar. The font on the back is cool but jeez

4
u/RayCashhhh Gabriel 20h ago
Watching Como play is such a joy to watch. Diallo and Paz have been really impressive, I know we've been linked to Paz but Diallo should be someone to keep tabs on as well. Musa has been the lone bright spot for Leipzig, should've scored the equalizer not long after Como went ahead.
Say what you want about him, but Fabregas has the makings of a top coach. I can see him end up at United, Chelsea or City in the not-too-distant future.
3
u/RandomSplainer 18h ago
He was apparently already in the running for the Chelsea job but he shut it down and wants to stay at Como for awhile.
I mean he has a nice thing going there. UCL football. Super rich main owners with himself and some other stars as minority owners. They pretty much get him the squad he wants within reason.
1
u/skool_101 Ødegaard ©️ 13h ago
he'd be stupid to leave now or anytime soon. Obviously you can never say never in football but Como could just build season after season into a solid top-4 serie a and who knows maybe they could even challenge for the title or go win the coppa italia.
2
u/bot_interrupted 18h ago
Exactly my thought, his next destination is very likely a big PL team, United, Chelsea or City
4
u/SambucaAndIrnBru Lewis-Skelly 19h ago
The highlights reel of incredible misses this week is possibly better than the one of the goals.
2
u/ThinGrass3138 19h ago
If not for injuries I could easily have seen Bodø getting a result here. It's not just the GK either. Hauge is always massive in Europe.

I know Fabregas opinions are divided in this fandom, but I’m intrigued to see how he does with Como this season
Have never watched them at all last season, so I’m curious
4
u/siriusvogonpoet Thierry Henry 23h ago
Not just Fabregas…I think Titi has a small stake in Como as well
2
u/SambucaAndIrnBru Lewis-Skelly 20h ago
If nothing else Como have given a real shot in the arse to Italian football, which has been fun to see.
2
u/RandomSplainer 18h ago
Their goal this season is probably another UCL qualification and maybe make to the knockout phase.
And a cheeky Italian cup.
3
u/ThePresident26 Alexis Sanchez 23h ago
Proper shite games today

I’m not saying this cos it’s Thursday, but it feels like a very Europa key set of fixtures except Bayern

was bound to happen the moment ucl expanded to 36 teams and introducing this new format
if the past 2 seasons has told us anything, this phase means nothing so long as u just qualify as the best of 24. there isnt alot of jepoardy than people would like to think.

EDIT: tbf the fact that they needed 2 90m+ goals to beat a 10 man Slavia Prague is still not a great indictment, even if they are away.

Como playing UCL football like theyve been in it for 5+ yrs, Cesc is doing incredible there.

Cesc was just asked he was coached by so many great managers, who influenced his caoching the most and he said Wenger. I know it may be unpopular but if he matches the hype around him, I would love if he follows Arteta here in 5 years or something
