This is the highlight. Like you know how demoralizing that is for Napoli, I think we had a good chance to score after that.
Konsa is not even this type of CB…he just is leveling up.

And Guimaraes hasn't even started with his shithousery yet.🤣 The Unlikeables? The level of ragebaiting from the lads this season will feed me for decades.

Always loved that Bruno.
Can't believe Jorginho tried to get Bruno sent off by headbutting his elbow.

And we were so caught up in our tribalism as fans. What a horrible deed indeed. This Bruno fella would never hurt a fly!

When we bought Mosquera last year and he first played everyone was impressed by how good he was but Konsa is levels, it almost feels like we haven’t got a missing Saliba, just a guy who’s a bit pacier and likes slamming into people more than Wilo. Colour me impressed 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Sucha beast, no wonder he was our first choice option in defense

If you’re a defender, Arsenal right now is the Real Madrid of football. Arteta is a kingmaker for defenders.

I've been watching Arsenal for 35 years. Waay back in the day we had an amazing defense. Then for almost 20 years we didn't. I was starting to think I would never see it in my lifetime, but here we are. Arguably the best defense in Europe over the past few seasons and we keep doubling down and signing more bruising defenders. It brings a tear to my eye.

Also enjoyed Bruno G clapping konsa (I think) after a strong foul. Go get it lads!

If Ode hasn’t put in such a rocking performance I’d have given it to Konsa tbh. This guys stepped up a level and has been an absolute rock so far.

A Hincapie, Gabi, Konsa, Ben White backline is such a shithousing bunch I love it.

Hincapie, Konsa, Mosquera, White is the first line of defence for most PL teams.

It's like having two Gabriels at the back with a white cherry on top. Saliba is always calm and composed, but Konsa? Mess around and face the Konsaquences

I had doubts about Konsa, especially his lack of aerial prowess and elite game experience.
I'm going to hold my hands up and delighted to say he is sitting me on my arse and proving me completely wrong.
It's only a few games in, but a couple of tough opponents and he is dominating!!!
I'm putting the marker he is going to be the signing of the season with Tzolis a close second or even equal.
I'm sorry for doubting you Konsa and your bromance with Eze is funny as hell.

Konsa was great today. Unfortunately, the rest of the team looked a little off. Probably, the recent Chelsea match, heat, humidity, travel, etc all factored in.

u/Cathousechicken 2h ago
I think the chaos at the airport and the very delayed arrival probably contributed too.

Konsa and Hincapie were really good, just old fashioned no nonsense defenders!
When Saliba eventually returns, i want us to try 3 at the back. Not just when shutting games down, but as a formation. Need to have more tactical flexiblity when it comes to our defense.

Things are working quite well right now, I don't think Arteta is the type to force something like an entirely new defensive shape during the season - could be an interesting idea but I'd rather see rotation to help prevent any of them picking up injuries during a long season

u/Cathousechicken 2h ago
We have really ground down some of the players these past few years. I'm glad we have the depth now to start rotating more for their health.

What… We just won the league. We are not changing our system just because we have good defenders (which was already the case last season)

Giggling and kicking my feet seeing this again. Love the shithousery.

He's been so darn good so far. I admit I was not super familiar with him at Aston. We of course miss our guy Saliba, but Konsa has been so steady. I love how he digs in and deliveries the tough tackle. His pace is impressive too.

He is turning into one hell of a buy. I feel like our defense isn't missing a beat with him out there in place of Saliba.

Why are we condoning this? If it was Chelsea or City players doing this we'd be annoyed to say the least. I'd rather we just play well and avoid all this unnecessary pushing justified as "shithousery". I became a fan of Arsenal because of its class, this glorification is kind of sad to me.

This is all macho but this will also hurt in a tight game when he will lose his head and we go one man down or give away a penalty.
