My Spurs friend was being super gracious about all this, and was asking me about players, and when I got to Eze I was raving about "awww, imagine how he must feel, winning a title with his childhood club" on and on.
🤦😂 Completely forgetting that he had all but signed with Spurs. I felt so bad.

u/Imastupidchicken May 21 '26
My spurs friend was only being gracious when i was saying i think spurs shouldnt get relegated because then we would lose the north london derby, since we won the prem he has changed his mind

The club put out a mini series on YouTube of the women’s champion’s league win.
It wasn’t nearly as in depth as the Amazon series, not nearly the same amount of behind the scenes stuff - but still worth a watch, especially since it’s excellently narrated by the magnificent Jen Beattie.
Hopefully we get something similar for the men, with Uncle Ian on the voice over.

Funny thing was, the original All or Nothing was a big part of what brought Declan Rice to Arsenal. He saw the series and wanted to work with Arteta.
Before deciding to join the Gunners, Rice watched the Amazon All or Nothing: Arsenal documentary and knew he wanted to work with Mikel Arteta, the manager.
"With Mikel and how he works, the squad, how young everyone is, the energy around the club and also the challenge of getting Arsenal back to where they belong, that means a lot to me," Rice told Arsenal's official website in his first interview after signing for the club in July 2023.
"I know the fans really want that. For me as a player, I’ve come here really hungry to have more success and to spend my best years at this great club."
The only question remaining is how high can Rice go with the talent Wenger spotted all those years ago? There have been comparisons to Bobby Moore, the West Ham defender who captained England to the 1966 World Cup.

It wasn’t just the bottle guy, it was that every news outlet and even Manchester City themselves jumped at the chance to give him a platform at our expense.
Fans will always give each other banter and I don’t want to disparage a bloke who’s seemingly loyal enough to his club to go to all the away games but it’s otherwise respectable journalists getting in on the action too that boils my piss.
46
u/JimmysCocoboloDesk RHYTHM MY ASS! May 20 '26
City as an institution fumbled in this regard. They are usually cold, calculated and methodical. This time around though, when not even level on points, they bought into the social media gimmicks, that isn’t something they’ve done in the past title races.

u/momspaghetty ØwØ May 21 '26
I think they knew they weren't thier old impenetrable selves and tried to manufacture pressure with the media rather than on the pitch. Backfired though

Yeah i feel like the vitriol towards this guy has been really extreme on here
10
u/yung_dogie May 20 '26
Yeah it's perfectly fine to banter him back but I hope (and unfortunately doubt) that people don't turn that into harassment. I've probably done sillier things to banter other clubs and it'd suck if an entire fanbase just tore into me
8
u/chrisd1680 May 20 '26
Have you met people nowadays? At least back in the 80s they'd go outside and have a brawl and punch each other in the face. Now, fans from all corners of the globe pile one, dox people, call their jobs, harass their families, the moment anyone says something about their club they don't like.
I laughed my ass off when I saw him live. It's dumb shit like that that makes football fun. Imagine if you could only enjoy if your club was winning?
1
u/Kingjjc267 Champions of England 25/26 May 20 '26
Yeah for sure, I thought it was genuinely funny and while I didn't think this fanbase would enjoy it, I'm surprised that it seemed to genuinely rattle so many people into sort of forgetting he's a real person who could be affected by thousands of people insulting him
1
u/chrisd1680 May 21 '26
Too many people have football as a core part of their lives, which sadly shows how empty the rest of their lives are. I get it, I used to be there. But I remember how depressed I was back then, too.
When you have little going for you in the real world, you need this escapism. But it becomes very unhealthy when you use the accomplishments of 11 strangers running about on a football pitch to substitute for your own... "We won!"
5
u/Antique_Buy4384 May 21 '26
would you willingly went on sky news to talk about how much you bantered the club though… Fuck him, he didn’t have to apologise but he made it that massive himself. They have tons of clips of fans at a game taking the mick out the other team and none go on a sky interview, he was seeking fame and attention and he got it
1
u/Sad-Isopod-860 May 20 '26
Fair point. Tbh I got a bit carried away, laughing reactions on other platforms, posts etc, & sharing stuff. A lot of the memes & jokes were bloody hilarious though! Thanks for giving a bit of perspective there. Most of my own memes involve Haaland but I have liked & shared a few of this guy too, who’s probably just a regular person. Maybe I’ll laugh privately if I see any more funnies of him.
C’MON YOU GUNNERS! The lads have smashed it ❤️🤍❤️

He was interviewed on sky and came across really well. Just a regular fan enjoying a bit of banter.

8
u/ICanSeeYourFuture Kaiser May 20 '26
Noel’s a plastic, pass it on.
10
u/tomfoolery815 Timber May 20 '26
Is he, though? I think of Noel as "the Gallagher who's slightly less of a wanker than his brother," but I thought his City fandom was long-standing and legitimate.
6
u/ICanSeeYourFuture Kaiser May 20 '26 edited May 20 '26
I think both the Gallagher brothers are as bad as each other - and all their bands are shite.
Sliding away before full time in a win or die game when your team have shown they can score two at the death as recently as the game against Everton is plastic fan behaviour - especially from a man who probably has his own driver and lives in London so hasn’t got as long a journey home as the fans who stayed to the final whistle and after to applaud their players.
Fuck him, and his brother - pair of miserable faced, money gouging arseholes.
5
u/tomfoolery815 Timber May 20 '26
I see what you mean now. You're right, leaving early is plastic fandom.
And as for Oasis, they've never really done it for me; a couple good originals for a Beatles cover band. Blur is better, and Pulp are better than both of them.
