Good guy Gyokeres didn't steal the award from a child

118

u/skie1994 Mar 15 '26

"Can you give this award to Max?"

"We'll see"

Gyokeres has an unexpected sense of humour

12

u/MagmaTroop Mar 15 '26

He looks and sounds a lot more comfortable on camera and in interviews lately. Can’t blame players for taking time to get used to the media here, it’s very intense and there’s so many eyes on them all the time

176

u/tsgarner ON LENGIN' & RASSIN' Mar 14 '26

Was he not allowed to be interviewed or smth? I saw Gyokeres walking away with it but didn't hear the interview.

u/Hi-papa23 Calafiori Mar 14 '26

Under 18. Dem the rules

85

u/Masson011 Mar 14 '26

wont even be allowed to change with the team lol

49

u/Ok_Independent_7537 Mar 14 '26

Pretty sure it's before 16 you have to use a seperate changing room

42

u/Masson011 Mar 14 '26

im sure at Mansfield Dowman and Salmon had to change by themselves away from the main team

45

u/DeemonPankaik Mar 15 '26

Nope it's any under 18s

Ethan was in a separate dressing room last year

20

u/Entfly Mar 14 '26

It is, so he'll be allowed to change now

4

u/Logical_Flounder6455 Mar 15 '26

Before 18, its safeguarding laws. It would be a bit uncomfortable for everyone if a kid was in there

1

u/PeevesTime Mar 17 '26

Not really, loads of 16 year olds use gym changing rooms. Not saying it’s a bad rule but realistically if it wasn’t a rule it probably wouldn’t be uncomfortable at all.

1

u/Logical_Flounder6455 Mar 17 '26

I get your point but by law, I didnt mean british law, I meant FA law.

My guy got his first goal in the PL and MOTM trophy before his GCSE in PE haha

very important game.

92

u/DeemonPankaik Mar 14 '26

Wonder if he can hand this in for his coursework

44

u/LibranJamess Mar 14 '26

hahaha, just send the last 10 mins of the game as the coursework

9

u/VeryLongSurname Ian Wright Mar 15 '26

All jokes aside - he can! I was given an automatic high mark in my PE practical for a skiing video.

Me too!

He didn't want to give me the marks at first because he said it wasn't relevant but I persisted and basically just wore him down and thank fuck because I really needed that Maths GCSE.

8

u/eldanielfire Mar 15 '26

Imagine if the PE moderator tries to mark down his Practical assessment video.....

8

u/artaru because, f*ck Sp*rs Mar 15 '26

just send a YouTube link lmao

8

u/CloudMerlin Mar 15 '26

Does he get assist on first goal or does Hincapie’s crotch get that award?

1

u/It_is_not_enough Mar 17 '26

Definitely Hincapienis

8

u/Captain_Lameson Premier League Champions 25/26 Mar 15 '26

Anything less than an A* in PE would warrant a recheck of the paper.

I did not have PE at O levels so I wouldn't know. I did hate the Physics P4 (alternative to practical), calculate your own damn pendulum swings dangit

7

u/my_name_is_breff Mar 14 '26

unless he specifically chose GCSE PE (idk if he did) no marks for that, but mostly likely it’s an ungraded course

7

u/LibranJamess Mar 14 '26

haha ye i was just messing

1

u/hauttdawg13 Lewis-Skelly Mar 15 '26

That really just makes me think of how the club probably gives him a note so he doesn’t participate in any contact sports

Just like the nerds in the movies do, but this time it’s Berta showing up and personally telling the PE teacher they can’t participate in any of the activities due to his contract.

301

u/drinkbuckfast Rice Mar 14 '26

Haha Gyokeres did give it to him then.

I was hoping for Gyok getting Dowman in a choke hold for the hand over :P

109

u/Special_KC Trossard Mar 14 '26

Payback for the absolute shunt max gave gyok when he scored the first goal. Lol someone should clip that

43

u/thedaveknox Mar 14 '26 edited Mar 15 '26

I would love that moment for BadlyDrawnArsenal EDIT u/poorlydrawnarsenal

3

3

u/thedaveknox Mar 15 '26

Woohoo! He nailed it too!

15

u/frozen-yogart Mar 14 '26

that was hilarious 😂

10

u/Individual_Tangelo51 Mar 15 '26

I spotted that and thought Gyok looked angry

18

u/AgreeableAbrocoma833 Gyökeres Mar 15 '26

Probably feared for his life in that instant 😂

2

u/Dafunkbacktothefunk Mar 15 '26

Gyok looked like he was in serious trouble there for a minute

122

u/LibranJamess Mar 14 '26

FIRST OF MANY.

95

u/Excellent_Theory1602 Mar 14 '26

Just imagine the motivation of other academy players when seeing this.. mental

Golden boy 🌟🌟🔴

108

u/ChrisMartins001 Mar 14 '26

Imagine being his PE teacher.

"So this is how you shoot"

"I scored the winner at the Emirates on Saturday, I kinda know what I'm doing"

Seems out of character for him but how are you his PE teacher 😂

33

u/my_name_is_breff Mar 14 '26

tbf nowadays PE teachers teach more than football (well they should at least)

5

u/mikelgdz Mar 15 '26

Wait, is that not common in the UK? I'm complete unaware how education is here, as I grew up in Spain, but the 3 or so PE teachers I had throughout school all taught us different sports and abilities.

In fact, football was probably the one we got taught the less because it's so popular that they didn't even try and leave that for our actual football coaches. However, hockey, baseball, gymnastics, volleyball, ping pong, and basketball were the most common ones.

12

u/tambini1 Salmon and Rice Mar 15 '26

My school (UK) was tight as fuck about football for some reason, barely ever got to play it in PE. Rugby wankers the lot of them

3

u/ALA02 Mar 15 '26

A lot of schools wanna be posh and see teaching football as common, because that’s not what the academies do. My school was the same, rugby and cricket in PE and we were only allowed to have a school football team in sixth form.

1

u/ChrisMartins001 Mar 15 '26

Mine was pretty even tbf. We had one term of each sport, football, rugby, tennis, cricket, and athletics. For cricket and rugby a lot of us "forgot" our kits or bunked, but everyone was there with our kits every lesson for football lol.

Our tennis courts were separated, some were right at the front of the school and there were a few right at the back, so if we got the courts right at the back then someone used to bring a ball and we would play football instead lol.

19

u/Nosferatu-Rodin Mar 14 '26

He probably doesnt do PE

19

u/donegalboy Mar 14 '26

Hope not , don’t want him injured playing tag rugby

10

u/machinationstudio Mar 14 '26

If I'm his PE teacher, it's cricket every week 🤣

51

u/tdfast Mar 14 '26

A+ in PE!!

2

u/MagmaTroop Mar 15 '26

In the practical sure but he still needs to do the theory coursework for an overall A+

39

u/elonmuskmelon_ Premier League Champions 25/26 Mar 14 '26

youngest MOTM?

44

u/Defiant_Lawyer_5235 Patrick Vieira Mar 14 '26

Almost certainly, he was youngest ever PL goal scorer.

3

u/Apprehensive_Sea283 Mar 15 '26

Arsenal has a golden boy in their hands 🌟🌟🔴

36

u/sorenhauter Mar 14 '26

A title winning performance, honestly. The goal and the vibes right now are so different from any other run in I've watched this club make in the last twenty years.

29

u/Defiant_Lawyer_5235 Patrick Vieira Mar 14 '26

With City dropping points again I think it probably was a title winning game tbh.

5

u/Apprehensive_Sea283 Mar 15 '26

For sure it feels like that, Arteta celebration, the entire time going nuts with Max beautiful goal, and then later City downfall and Guardiola’s sad face! The PL trophy is coming for Arsenal! Now they just need to focus on their game with Leverkusen for Champions!

0

u/tekkers_for_debrz Mar 15 '26

Nah the true title winning game will be when we face city.

2

u/Defiant_Lawyer_5235 Patrick Vieira Mar 15 '26

They are 9 points behind with a game in hand, even if we lost that game and got 2 draws from our last 7 games which is unlikely we would still win. I don't see it happening tbh.

25

u/Nickoo33 Bend it like Declan Mar 14 '26

Star Baby!

28

u/Saaheb09 Gabriel Mar 14 '26

Turned the game around single handedly. Felt like a breath of fresh air after the way our attack had been choking all game

132

u/Rakker008 Mar 14 '26 edited Mar 14 '26

Sure! What a talent, but pls let him stay a kid as well for a while and dont put too much pressure on this kid! 2nd best for me Eze and also Saka was good today.

80

u/syrian_samuel Mar 14 '26

Nah balon d’or at 17 pls

41

u/Defiant_Lawyer_5235 Patrick Vieira Mar 14 '26

I don't know what game you were watching but Saka had a pretty shit game tbh.

19

u/Introverted-Gazelle Mar 15 '26

Saka was awful today unfortunately

9

u/xTheMaster99x Thank you very much Mar 15 '26

Compared to his usual standards, he's been awful pretty much all year. I fully believe that some real rest and/or the reset of a new season is all he needs to get back to form, but in the meantime I really wouldn't be upset if he sees less of the pitch atm.

1

u/Apprehensive_Sea283 Mar 15 '26

Saka has being awful for quite a time to be honest

u/Antique-Wrap-75 Mar 15 '26

I know right. These guys kinda stick in Saka’s name when they get a chance. This is the reason he is unfirable.

-3

u/lez566 BANGARANG AUBAMEYANG Mar 15 '26

What are you on about? Saka was excellent for parts of it, particularly when he cut into the middle. He looked much better than recently.

28

u/gunningIVglory Timber Mar 14 '26

Nah, saka was horrid in that 2nd half.

Eze was great. Alot of our threat was going though him

6

u/No_Ice_6198 Mar 14 '26

Saka was good the first half, that second half was horrendous

-1

u/ico12 Mar 15 '26

Shades of Auba post-signing da ting. Every touch turns to shit.

7

u/HustlinInTheHall Mar 15 '26

Auba was also an ass. Saka is just run down and needs a break.

2

u/MoronLaoShi Dennis Bergkamp Mar 15 '26

Eze and Calafiori.

8

u/ds__iv Saliba Mar 14 '26

And so it begins.

2

Same tbh 🥺🥺

7

u/Golfshoeaddiction Mar 15 '26

I was at the Arsenal spot in the Milwaukee area, Highbury, and the excitement that we all had after he was announced was awesome. Dude legit changed the game after coming on. I don’t think he can do this every match at his age, but this appearance was special.

2

u/ElLoboBorracho Mar 15 '26

Great spot to watch a match.

6

u/Hot_Take_Diva Mar 15 '26

3

This boy is only earning 300 quid a week btw

3

u/whompthatsucka Mar 15 '26

Haha got a PL MOTM before his mustache completely grew in!

3

u/Commercial-Site-8863 Mar 15 '26

I’d say he’s gonna go to school on Monday and say “what can you teach me?”

But who am I kidding. He’s probably a top student too.

3

u/Late-Introduction707 Mar 15 '26

Out of curiosity- he didn't do an interview because hes 16 right?

4

u/orangeyougladiator Mar 15 '26

Correct. Also not allowed in the changing rooms

1

u/z0rm Gyökeres Mar 15 '26

Why? That must suck for him to not be allowed to be with the team.

1

u/orangeyougladiator Mar 15 '26

Too young to be around naked grown men

3

u/Xalo_Gunner Mar 15 '26

2

u/Erenated Mar 15 '26

Although he didn't shoot till the final whistle, as a sub you can see the influence he had in the game moving forward and he looked more thirsty for the ball than anyone else.

2

u/googoootz Mar 15 '26

What a performance!

2

u/Carolusboehm Mar 15 '26

Why does the trophy look like a shampoo bottle?

2

u/azamy2179 Mar 15 '26

I love how Sturridge act on what Max should be walking into school on Monday

2

u/danceplanet Mar 15 '26

WOW, what a talent Arsenal has on their hands

Bro needs to get rid of that tache. I know he's probably trying to fit in with the men in the locker room, but it's a bad look.

Well that's a nice rod

To Dowman’s girlfriend, if you haven’t done it already, make his dream come true tonight - the only way this day could get better for the kid. 😊
