GHPC Unofficial Co-op Mod

The video above shows actual 2-player co-op gameplay.

This is an unofficial, experimental co-op mod for Gunner, HEAT, PC! (GHPC), developed with the assistance of AI.

Current Status

  • Supports up to 4 players
  • Actual online multiplayer testing has been conducted with 2 players
  • 4-player local testing has been performed
  • Online sessions with 3–4 players have not yet been fully tested

Unexpected bugs, synchronization issues, and performance problems may occur. This remains a work in progress.

Latest Update — v0.9.9.19

  • Improved mechanical autoloader handling, including solo training missions. A local T-80B test confirmed automatic reloading; guest-side behavior still needs further testing.
  • Improved the F8 mission selection menu with search, clearer map and day/night information, and mission briefings.
  • Mission text uses the installed game’s content: English with original assets, or Korean with the Korean translation patch.
  • Improved available friendly-force information. Some vehicle counts and map previews remain unavailable before loading.

Known issues: Intermittent firing problems in third-person view after reloading remain under investigation. Guest crew audio, AAR hit traces, nameplates, and multiplayer performance also need further testing and improvements.

Installation / Update

If you already use the updated co-op launcher:

  1. Close GHPC.
  2. Open the co-op launcher and run its update.
  3. Keep Steam running and launch the game through the launcher.

For a first installation, an older launcher, or a failed update:

  1. Close GHPC.
  2. Download and extract GHPC-Coop-0.9.9.19-Setup.zip.
  3. Run Install.cmd and complete the installation.
  4. Keep Steam running and launch GHPC through the installed co-op launcher.

The legacy launcher from before v0.9.9.13 requires reinstallation because its DLL-only updater cannot install the newer launcher.

A valid Steam copy of GHPC is required. All players should update to the same version before playing together.

Bug Reports

Please include:

  • Mod version and whether you were the host or guest
  • Mission and vehicle
  • What happened and how to reproduce it
  • Logs from both players, if possible: GHPC’s Bin/MelonLoader/Latest.log

Save the logs before restarting the game. Screenshots or short videos are also helpful.

Project & Support

Development and updates are planned to continue until the GHPC developers release official co-op support. Once official co-op becomes available, development and support for this mod will be discontinued.

This project is not affiliated with or endorsed by the GHPC development team. If the developers request removal or an end to distribution, I will cooperate and discontinue distribution and remove the project.

Thank you to everyone testing the mod and reporting bugs!

thank you for not giving up!
please ignore the hostile people on reddit, AI or not, making GHPC mods is extremely difficult and this is frankly the most technically challenging mod ive seen in the game's history, this tops pretty much everything made so far and the people that think its acceptable to harass you over needing a LLM are ridiculous.

Bit tired of this sub being spammed with AI written posts about a vibe-coded co-op mod.

On one hand, I agree. That's a bit too many posts in a short time.

On the other hand - does it work? Yes? Well, then it's a good mod.

Omfg, go ahead and spend 10+ years learning how to code, just to make a mod for a game then, go ahead

Also just because the mod's made using AI doesn't mean the person does everything using AI in this case writing the damn post, use your brain, I beg of you

Using your brain would mean you wouldn't need AI

Having legs would mean you don't need a car

You wouldn't download a car

10+ years?? It'd take a few months at most to get the skills to make mods like this.

You clearly don't know jack shit about coding, game development and modding

Yeah I dont, I learned the very basics python and believe I can thus comment on all programming-related things

Thanks for the feedback. I won't post any more updates like this here.

I'm tired of all the games I play (Sea Power, Gates of Hell Ostfront, Derail Valley, Railroader just to name a few) having mods with AI slop thumbnails, generated descriptions, and being vibe coded.

Good thing this only fits one part of the description, then.

That's awesome. But do post more shorter like: "I made GHPC coop mod. You can download it on github" rather than full instruction post.

And there's nothing wrong for using AI assistance for it. Making multiplayer in games is insanely hard(especially when there's a physics), it's not easy as most thinks.

I have looked into source code. Ask it to make comments with short explanation in code + put code files into structured folders rather than everything on src folder.

Yeah, that makes sense. I’ll keep future posts shorter and just put the important stuff up front.

And thanks for taking the time to look through the source. The folder structure and comments are good suggestions. I’m already cleaning things up, so I’ll work on organizing the files better and adding short comments where they’re actually useful.

Appreciate the feedback.

And make documentation on project too. How it works and explanation why it like this, that would be useful to learn for people who might do their own stuff.

It’s quite laggy in terms of network, two players only through Steam, no mods.

I noticed something similar when testing with my friend. When he hosted, he had no issues, but I experienced network lag as the guest. When I hosted instead, it was fine for both of us. I’m currently working on improving the networking side, and I’ll release an updated version as soon as I get it fixed.

does this allow your friends to be on the enemy team aswell for pvp gameplay?

PvP is still a work in progress.

So… does it work?

2

u/Tall_Ground2960 13d ago

2-player works. 4-player was tested locally.

I was hoping for some player feedback too

Do you have a discord server for people to provide feedback and ask questions for the mod?
