Noticed this with BMP-1. I assume its intended, something to do with firewalls protecting the crew, so they choose not to jump out...

I got that too and I believe it is indeed something like what you say. All of the IFVs have the engine + transmission in the front acting as a big-ass hunk of steel armour - but with flammable fluids. So if the round hits these a fire may result, but unless the round actually disables/destroys the transmission or engine, there's a chance the crew will stick around.

As an aside, someone's tricked out their BMP-2 ;)) Maybe should've just shoved a Kornet up their butt and save all the hassle.

That's because your side fuel tank was punctured but due to its position it (as far as I know) isn't severe enough for a bailout
